Lady Badgers Win 68-67

Snow held on late to surprise the 19th-ranked Cardinals, after a 3-point jumper from NIC's Kama Griffitts hit off the back of the rim at the buzzer in a 68-67 Badger win.


Snow (15-6, 6-5) jumped out to a 34-31 halftime lead by outrebounding the Cardinals 9-2 on the offensive glass. Amanda Farish scored 12 of her team-high 14 points in the first half.

Down 68-65 in the closing seconds, former Lakeland standout Camille Reynolds drove the length of the court and was intentionally fouled by Linsey Hodkiss, giving the Cardinals two foul shots and the ball with five seconds remaining.

Reynolds made both free throws to set up Griffitts' try at the end.

"You've got to give Snow credit, they played with a lot of energy," North Idaho coach Chris Carlson said. "They beat us in a lot of situations and on the boards."

Sammie Jensen had 12 rebounds for the Badgers, despite playing with a broken nose. Jensen played without her protective mask in the second half.

"Sammie did a good job on the boards for us tonight," Snow coach Cindy Lindsey said. "Wearing the mask affects the way she sees the ball. When it came down to crunch time, she wanted to see so she took it off."

North Idaho (18-3, 9-3) remains a half game behind Salt Lake while Snow, which beat CSI on Thursday, remains in fourth place, one game behind CSI. Salt Lake lost at CSI 74-59.

Reynolds led the Cardinals with 19 points.
