Box Score 4 EPHRAIM, Utah (April 6, 2019) -- The Snow College Lady Badgers and USU-Eastern Eagles split their four-game series played Friday and Saturday at Badger Field in Ephraim. USU-E won the opening game each day ̶ 3 to 2 on Friday and 15 to 9 in eight innings on Saturday ̶ with the Badgers coming back to win each day's second game ̶ 7 to 6 on Friday and 9 to 1 on Saturday. The series leaves Snow alone in third place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference with a record of 11-8, and puts the Eagles into fourth place at 6-13, a half-game ahead of Southern Nevada.
Sophomore right-hander
Sadie Clark was the winning pitcher in both of Snow's wins, yielding just one earned run in her 10-1/3 innings of work.
It was a wild ending in Saturday's opener as the teams entered the seventh inning with USU-E leading 5-4. The Eagles extended their lead to two by scoring a run in the top of the seventh, but Snow came back to score a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh on pitcher
Alexis Poulsen's second homerun of the game to send the game to an extra inning. Poulsen hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to pull the Badgers to within one at 5-4.
The wheels came off for the Badgers in the top of the eighth as USU-E scored nine times, but in the bottom of the frame, Poulsen pounded her third consecutive round tripper, her fourth hit of the game and plating her eighth RBI. It was too little too late, however, as the Badgers fell short 15-9.
But Poulsen wasn't finished as she launched her fourth consecutive homerun in her first appearance at the plate of the series finale in the second inning. Badger fans were looking for more, but USU-E decided enough was enough as they walked her on four pitches in Poulsen's final two at-bats as Snow ended the game early at 9-1 for a run-rule win.
Brooke Brown, had the final say in the series as she smacked a two-run homer of her own to end the last game early in the bottom of the sixth. The Badger's third baseman finished the series 6-for-13 at the plate, while freshman
Kloie Park went 3-for-3 in the second game each day with a total of three doubles. Freshman
Bailie Singleton had a homerun to drive in the Badgers' two runs in the first game of the series.
The Badgers travel to Henderson to take on the College of Southern Nevada this weekend, and then return for their final home games of the season as they host Southern Idaho on April 19 and 20.
