Snow College Welcomes Erick Schork as Strength and Conditioning Coach

Snow College Athletic Director Rob Nielson proudly announces the appointment of Erick Schork as the new Strength and Conditioning Coach for their athletic programs. Schork joins Snow College after an illustrious tenure at Brigham Young University (BYU), where he played a pivotal role in elevating the performance of the men's basketball student-athletes to a Power 5 conference. This exceptional hire marks a significant milestone as Snow College Athletics demonstrates its commitment to excellence and innovation in the junior college sports arena.

Erick Schork brings a wealth of expertise and experience to Snow College Athletics, having spent over 25 years refining his craft at the highest level of NCAA division I sports. His impressive track record at BYU starting in 2016 is a testament to his unwavering dedication to the holistic development of student-athletes. Schork's innovative & consistent approach to strength and conditioning has delivered remarkable results, not only in terms of enhanced physical performance, but also in the overall well-being of the athletes under his guidance.

In August of last year, Coach Schork was named in the top 50 of NCAA Division I strength coaches by Silverwaver media. He was named One of the Most Impactful Strength & Conditioning Coaches in the Nation by a list compiled by NCAA Division I athletic directors, coaches, and a panel of sports professionals that regarded him as one of the best in the country.

During his time in Provo, Schork has overseen every aspect of training for a Cougar program that has gone 152-77 (.664) including five 20-win seasons and a trip to the 2021 NCAA Tournament. He has worked with a pair of All-Americans and eight all-conference and future pro players including the likes of Elijah Bryant, Eric Mika, TJ Haws, Yoeli Childs, Jake Toolson and Alex Barcello.

Snow Head Men's Basketball coach Andrew May worked extensively with Coach Schork at BYU. "Coach Schork is the consummate professional," May said. "His care for the players and his emotional investment into their improvement is what separates him. His skill as a strength coach to influence the players to give their best efforts and empower them with greater physical ability was a cornerstone to our success. Having such an accomplished coach mentoring and training our current and future student athletes is unprecedented."

Prior to BYU, Schork served as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Saint Louis Billikens' basketball program for over six years, before being promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics. Coach Schork worked for legendary former Utah Basketball head coach Rick Majerus along with former Jazz assistant coach Alex Jensen. Schork was also named Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association in 2013, which is the highest honor that a strength and conditioning coach can receive at the collegiate level.

Before working at Saint Louis, Schork spent four years at Wright State as the Director of Strength and Conditioning. He also had stints at Ohio State University as an assistant strength coach, with the Buffalo Bills of the NFL and as the speed coach for the Wittenberg University football team. He has also served as a consultant for USA Youth Hockey.

What sets this hiring apart is the rarity of a junior college program securing the services of a coach with such extensive division I experience. Schork's decision to join Snow College Athletics reflects the vision of Athletic Director Rob Nielson and the program's growing reputation as a force to be reckoned with in collegiate sports development. Schork's presence will undoubtedly have a transformative impact on the training regimens, performance outcomes, and long-term success of Snow College's athletes.

"We are excited to have a coach with this experience and knowledge join our staff here at Snow," Athletic Director Rob Nielson said. "This will take our strength program to a new level!"

Erick Schork expressed his enthusiasm about joining Snow College Athletics, stating, "At this point of my career I view this as an opportunity to work in a place where they value people. I am excited to lead with multiple sports, in an athletic department that is focused on helping student-athletes be successful at the next level. Being able to give back what I have learned in a career at the division I level is an extremely enjoyable prospect that feels right to me."

Coach Schork comes to Snow with his supportive wife Amy and son Alex.
