The Snow College cheer and stunt team was named National Champions at the United Spirit Association Collegiate Nationals competition in Anaheim, California over the weekend.
Â
The USA Spirit Nationals, which began in 1986, has served as a national competition for cheerleading, song/pom, mascot, and pep flag activities.  The Badgers entered the competition and competed in the 2-Year Junior College Small Coed Advanced Division.
Â
In this division, the Badgers performed one routine, known as a show routine, which is a three-minute performance that has a mix of jumps, tumbling, cheering, and stunts.  Each team is judged in these areas and given a total score out of 100 possible points. Â
Â
The Badgers performed their show routine and were given a score of 89.7.  That score was tops among the other schools and awarded the Badgers first place in the 2-Year Junior College Small Coed Advanced Division.
Â
"Our team has worked tirelessly for months to put together a group of strong and hard-working individuals to go to Nationals and bring home a National Championship," Head Coach Shawn Gubeli said.  "I am extremely proud of their hard work and look forward to returning next year, competing in multiple divisions, and helping the Snow College cheer and stunt team finish on top again.  I want to thank the community, administrators, families, and everyone else who has reached out for their support."
Â
The Badgers plan on hosting tryouts in the next few months and will once again prepare for the USA Collegiate Nationals next season.  For additional information on the Snow College cheer and stunt team, visit snowbadgers.com.
