The Snow College men's and women's cross country teams started their season Friday  competing in the Utah Valley University Invitational. There were several teams competing in the invite, including Brigham Young University, Utah Valley University, Southern Utah University, College of Southern Idaho, Salt Lake Community College, University of Utah, and Westminster.

In the men's 3-mile race, Snow College finished fourth out of seven teams. Winning the invitational was last year's NCAA Division 1, No.11 team BYU. UVU came second ahead of SUU with Snow College coming in fourth. Rounding out the final three were CSI, SLCC, and Westminster. 

Snow College's top runner was true freshman Matyas Bird, setting a Snow College team course record with a time of 14:44, coming in 25th. After Bird, the Badgers next runner was Jaquin Cardenas coming in at 15:05. Tyler Martin came in at 15:10. 

Finishing the scoring for the Badgers was Vaughn Wallace at 15:11 and Cam Larsen at 15:19, Snow College also had Cooper Merica and Steven Keogh to round out the Badgers top seven. 

Snow College women's team finished sixth of eight teams. Winning the invite was reigning Big 12 Champions, BYU with 19 pts. Finishing in second was UVU, while U of U and SUU came next. CSI finished one slot ahead of the Badgers, as SLCC and Westminster came seventh and eighth, respectively.

Snow College top runner Addie Hurst, setting a Snow College team course record finished in 35th place with a time of 17:59. Skye Siddoway finished in 18:38, while Gracie Starr finished in 18:50. They were followed closely by Sariah Jones at 18:53 as Sophie Starr came in to finish the scoring for the Badgers in 19:07. Sage Watson and True Johnson came in 6th and 7th for the Badgers.

Snow College men's and women's cross country teams will continue their season on Friday with another race at UVU. The Women's race will be at 10 a.m. and the Women's race will be at 10:45. For additional information, visit snowbadgers.com
