The Snow Volleyball team participated in the NJCAA Region 18 regional tournament Nov. 4 & 5. The tournament was held in Cour-de-lane Idaho, home of the College of Northern Idaho(NIC).
In their first match of the tournament, the Lady Badgers pummeled the Golden Eagles from the Utah State-College of Eastern Utah (CEU), winning in 3 games (25-18, 25-20, 25-17). Hitting just under .400 against the Golden Eagles, The Lady Badgers served notice that they were here with their own agenda!
In their second match the Lady Badgers played just as ferociously versus the host team and number one seed, College of Northern Idaho. The match was very competitive with two of the sets being decided by two points but the Badgers came up short, losing in three games to the eventual champions (26-24, 25-23, 25-17).
Snow Volleyball Head Coach Keven John stated, "We would like to congratulate NIC on a great year and a well-played match. There is no doubt that they will represent our region well at the national tournament."
The Snow College Athletic Department congratulates the Lady Badgers as a team and also those players who were singled out for praise by the SWAC coaches. Outside hitter
Niurka Toribio was named to the all-conference first team, Setter
Jenny Scott was awarded second team honors, and Middle Kathrine Kendal achieved honorable mention.
Coach John continued, "I am proud to have helped lead this fine group of young women and I am impressed by the effort they gave week in and week out. Snow College Volleyball has a bright future and it will be in no small part a product of this wonderful group. Finally on behalf of the team I would like to thank everyone that helped make this season possible. The team appreciated everything!"
