Lady Badgers head into SWAC tourney riding sweeps over CNCC and USU-E

EPHRAIM – The Snow College Lady Badgers ended their regular season on a high note with sweeps over two conference foes to ready themselves for the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) volleyball tournament this weekend. Snow beat USU-Eastern 3-0 Friday night and then came back Saturday afternoon to down Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans (CNCC) 3-0.

The Badgers did not let the Golden Eagles of USU-Eastern get any momentum Friday night, taking the first set 25-15, and following that with sets of 25-23 and 25-13 to sweep the match. Snow had hitting percentages as a team of .367 in the opener and closed out the third set by hitting .393.
Brooke Lamb led the Badgers with 18 kills on 43 attacks with six errors for a hitting percentage of .279. Delayne Daniel added 16 kills for Snow, hitting .394 with only three errors on 33 attacks. Magen Hunter had 35 assists in the match.

Savannah Whitworth and Sierra Green each registered three blocks to lead Snow. Cali Tovey had 18 digs for the Badgers and Daniel added 11. Jasmine Covington had nine kills to lead USU-Eastern and Mckenzie Burrows led the team with 15 assists.
On Saturday the Badgers swept Colorado Northwestern 25-14, 25-21, 25-18, to clinch third place for Snow in the SWAC regular season and complete a winless conference campaign for the Spartans.

Daniel had a match-high 14 kills with Lamb adding 12 and Sierra Green chipping in 10. Racheal Smuin led CNCC with nine kills. Hunter had 42 assists in the match and Cali Tovey had 17 digs on defense. Snow had a .321 hitting percentage while holding CNCC to .119.

The Badgers will join the rest of the SWAC in Twin Falls, Ida., this Friday and Saturday for the conference tournament hosted by regular season champ Southern Idaho (CSI). Nationally third ranked CSI finished the regular season with a conference record of 9-1 (30-2 overall) followed by No. 6 nationally Salt Lake at 8-2 (20-8 overall). CSI and Salt Lake will have byes in the opening round of the SWAC tournament.
