Box Score 2 Snow College was 1-1 this week with a victory over Southern Nevada in straight sets (25-21, 25-17, 25-23), and a loss at home to North Idaho 3-0 (24-26, 21-25, 17-25).
The Badgers are 3-3 in conference play, picking up all three wins on the road. "Our team is getting better and it's important to reemphasize that," says Head Coach Cinthia Angus. "I think we've gathered a lot of information and experience during the first round of conference play which allowed our younger players to mature."
Snow's best chances against North Idaho came as they lead late in the first set, but costly errors late in the set kept them from closing it out. "NIC did a nice job preventing us from staying in rhythm, allowing them to get runs of points anytime we got close on scores," says Coach Angus.
Sophomore
Quincey Thacker led the team over the weekend with 16 kills (2.7 kills per set, hitting .467) and 7 blocks (1.16 blocks per set) while freshman
Celine Christensen ended the weekend with 11 kills (1.8 kills per set, hitting .304) along with 1 ace, 2 digs and 2 blocks.
"It was nice to see our middles getting more involved offensively," says Coach Angus, "largely because our pass and digging location has improved remarkably from last week."
Freshman's Ryle Cate contributed with 15 kills and 17 digs while
Brin Stewart added 11 kills and 16 digs.
Snow will be back home this week to take on Colorado Northwestern on Thursday, October 15 at 7pm and USU-Eastern on Saturday, October 17 at 1pm.
