Box Score Danny Angus, Sports InformationSnow rolled over the Arizona Western Matadors, 35-10, in their second game of the season. The Badgers' defense had a big night with four turnovers that helped set up 529 yards of offense which proved to be too much for the Matadors.
Snow's defense got started early as
Cardon Malan ended the Matadors' first drive with a sack on 4
th down, giving the Badgers good field position at their own 40 yard line. Snow's offense capitalized on the turnover on downs and picked up their first touchdown on a two yard Stephen Shepherd run.
Arizona Western kept their offense moving deep into Snow territory, but their next drive ended with a
Parker Preator interception in the endzone for a touchback. Snow took advantage and quickly got back into scoring position on a 55 yard halfback pass from
Riley Richmond that set up a
Dalton Fackrell touchdown reception to bring the score to 14-0.
The Matadors were on their way to making it a one touchdown game after a 77 yard drive on 13 plays put them in scoring position at the 3 yard line, but Snow's defense came up big as
Cardon Malan forced a fumble in the backfield that was recovered by the badgers on the 12 yard line. Quarterback
Stefan Cantwell took the offense 88 yards down the field on 5 plays that ended with a 19 yard touchdown pass in traffic to
Dalton Fackrell giving the badgers a 21-0 lead.
Arizona Western put points on the board with a field goal at the 2:43 mark, but Wide Receiver
Jonah Trinnaman returned the ensuing kickoff to midfield where the Badgers needed just over a minute to get back in the endzone on a 7 yard sweep by Trinnaman to bring the score to 28-3.
The Matadors scored early in the 2
nd half on a two yard pass to Brandon Moore that brought the score to 28-10, but Arizona Western's offense struggled to move the ball for the rest of the half as they only picked up 71 total yards of 2
nd half offense.
The Badgers would seal the victory on a 58 yard touchdown pass to
Jonah Trinnaman late in the 4
th quarter for a final score of 35-10.
Stefan Cantwell had a great night going 17-31 for 296 yards in the air with 4 TDs and 72 yards on the ground.
Jonah Trinnaman and
Dalton Fackrell also shined on offense with two touchdowns each.
The Badgers' defense put on a show with three interceptions, one fumble recovery, a 4
th down stop and nine total sacks.
Parker Preator had two interceptions while
Cardon Malan led the defense with 3 sacks. Sione Vehikite had two sacks and
Kurtis Taufa,
Manaia Perese,
Teau Satuala and
Wesley Kauvaka each recorded a sack.
Snow improves to 2-0 on the season and will head to Arizona to take on Scottsdale Community College on Sept. 19
th.
