Badger Football Powers past Air Force Prep, 41-24

Box Score EPHRAIM, UTAH (Sept. 24, 2016) -- Overcoming two Air Force Prep touchdown returns on specials teams, the Snow College Badgers overpowered the Huskies in the second half to earn the 41-24 victory on Saturday.

Snow quarterback Justin Miller had his best game of the season, passing for 339 yards on 26 completions out of 39 attempts, and throwing for four touchdowns. Miller also had a monster QB run in the first drive that went 43 yards. Running back Shaquille Delli led all rushers with 21 carries for 92 yards for the Badgers, who were without starting running back Josh Labrador for the game.

The Snow defense completely stifled the Huskies offense, allowing only 97 total yards for the game, as the Huskies had to rely on miracles for most of their points. Huskies' kick returner Hennie had a highlight-reel day, returning two kickoffs for touchdowns.

The Badgers had a rough start to the second half, allowing one of the kickoff return touchdowns to begin the third quarter. On the following kick, Air Force Prep shorted the kick, bouncing it off the hands of a Snow special teamer to recover it at the Snow 33-yard line. The following drive resulted in another touchdown for the Huskies.

A few short drives later, Huskies quarterback P.J. Hammond threw a short pass that was impressively intercepted on a one-handed grab from linebacker Alani Pututua on the Huskies' 16-yard line. Miller and the Snow offense carried the momentum into their first play as Miller found receiver Alex Croyle for a quick 13-yard, go-ahead touchdown.

The rest of the game belonged to the Badgers as they rode the wave of momentum all the way to the end, scoring on several more drives. Croyle led all receivers with eight catches for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Brandon Jones nearly matched Croyle's production with five catches for 105 yard and another two touchdowns.

"I was proud of how our guys kept playing through some special teams miscues," Head Coach Britt Maughan said. "We worked hard for this one.  I thought offense and defense played well.  Obviously, we need to be better on specials teams.  I don't think I've ever seen a team return two touchdowns in a game and lose."

Snow will travel to Yuma, Ariz. to face Arizona Western Community College next Saturday, Oct. 8. Arizona Western currently stands as the No. 1-ranked team in the country. The Badgers' next home game will be the Snow College Homecoming Game against Pima Community College on Oct. 15.
