Box Score EPHRAIM, Utah (October 14, 2017) -- After a tough, five-game loss to fourth-ranked Southern Idaho on Thursday, the No.7 Snow College women's volleyball team rebounded to hand No. 11 Salt Lake C.C. a 3-0 loss on Saturday, 25-18, 25-23, 25-17. The win marks the first time in the rally scoring era that the Badgers have defeated the Bruins twice in a single season. In addition, it is the 16th time this season the Badgers have registered a three-set victory.
"This was a really important game for us to win," Snow College head coach Jeff Reynolds said. "After losing a tough one on Thursday evening, we needed this one to stay in the race for the conference championship and the right to host our conference tournament. And, we wanted to win this one for our sophomores who were playing in their last regular-season game here at home. I'm extremely proud of the way we played this afternoon. Salt Lake is a really good team, and we knew it was going to be tough. I couldn't be more proud of the way we stayed focused throughout the entire match. Our goal was to win it in three, and that's exactly what we did."
Sophomore outside hitter
Thea Leiataua led the Badgers with a match-high 15 kills on 29 attempts to register a hitting efficiency of .379. Leaiataua also had 12 digs, marking the ninth game this season she has registered double-digit figures in kills and digs. Sophomores RIley Lyman and
Kelsie Evans added nine and eight kills, respectively, for the Badgers.
Now 21-4 on the season, Snow College will travel to Price, Utah next Friday at 7 p.m. to take on USU Eastern, followed by a Saturday afternoon contest at Colorado Northwestern. Game time in Rangely, Colo. is set for 3 p.m. (MT).
