No. 13 Snow College defeats No. 16 ASA Miami in Florida

Box Score HIALEAH, FL – The No. 13 ranked Snow College Badgers capitalized on timely opportunities to earn themselves their fourth victory of the season, winning 39-23 over the No. 16 ranked Silver Storm of ASA College Miami.

Snow College opened up the scoring just 3 minutes into the game when Garrison Beach connected with Tejhaun Palmer for a touchdown. The Silver Storm evened things up when Jaeze Tracey found Justin McGriff in the end zone pulling the score to 7-7. Beach threw to Palmer for another touchdown pass in the first quarter retaking the lead 14-7, a lead that the Badgers would never give up the rest of the game.

The Badgers continued to dominant in the air with Beach connecting for his third passing touchdown of the half, this time connecting with Caezar Warren, extending their lead to 21-7. ASA Miami answered with a passing touchdown of their own, Tracey connecting with McGriff again making the score 21-13. Snow College's special teams came up big when the point after attempt was blocked and returned to the end zone for two points by Bryce Hampton, meaning snow would take a 23-13 lead into halftime.

Snow College was gifted another two points to start the second half when ASA Miami's returner Rafael Smith caught the ball on his own 3-yard line but went a few steps back into his own end zone taking a knee, resulting in a safety for Snow College and giving them the ball back. The Badgers were unable to capitalize on the mistake tho as Garrison Beach threw an interception in the end zone, his only interception of the day. The defense was able to stop the Silver Storm from scoring, setting up an opportunity for Shammah Luani to power into the end zone on a handoff to extend the Snow College lead to 32-13.

In the fourth quarter ASA Miami showed some signs of a potential comeback as the defense was able to come up with a safety pulling to within 17 points of Snow College. Justin McGriff caught his third touchdown of the day and the Silver Storm successfully pulled off a two-point conversion closing the gap to 32-23.

The Snow College offense was surgical however in its ability to pick apart the ASA Miami defense and marched right back up the field for 7 points, capitalized by a Shammah Luani 15-yard touchdown run, which gave the Badgers a final 39-23 lead.

Garrison Beach had the best game of his season, finishing with a stat line of 19/29, 269 yds, 3 TD, 1 INT. Shammah Luani finished the game with 15 carries for 109 yds and 2 TD. Hunter Harris led the team in receiving yard with 90, while Tejhaun Palmer had 2 TD receptions and Caezar Warren had 1. The defense forced 5 turnovers, including 4 interceptions (Bryce Hampton, Jason Money and Gerald Wilbon who had 2).

The win marks the first time this season that the Badgers have scored a touchdown in each quarter of the game, and also marks the first time the Badgers have won two consecutive games this season (beating Iowa Central in their previous game).

Snow College will travel to Council Bluffs, Iowa next week to face Iowa Western CC on October 19.  Iowa Western CC is 4-3 on the season (having lost by very slim margins to both Garden City and Iowa Western, two teams that Snow have beat this season). The game will be at 12 p.m. MST and available on radio stations KMTI AM 650 and 95.1 FM, with live streaming available at local10.centracom.com or on the YouTube channel WATCHit/SnowTV.
