EPHRAIM, Utah (Sept. 3, 2019) -- The Snow College women's volleyball team improved to 21-2 on the season and took over sole possession of first place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings with a 3-1 win over No. 9 Salt Lake C.C. on Thursday.
The Badgers took to first set, 25-21. The two teams traded points through the second set with SLCC outlasting the Badgers, 27-25. Snow took control of the match with a decisive 25-15 win in the third set, and came from behind to take the fourth and final set, 25-21.
"This was a great match," Snow College head coach Jeff Reynolds said. "Both teams came to play tonight. We knew the Bruins would get their shots, but we stuck to the game plan and battled all the way to the end."
Sophomore Sarah Morley led the way for the Badgers with a team-high 14 kills on 44 swings. Morley hit .205 on the night, and was credited with 13 digs. Sophomore Andreanna McKee racked up 13 kills on 36 attempts to hit .222. Freshmen Korrin Thornock and Lydia Montague had 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Freshman setter Ellee Anderson posted a match-high 51 assists.
Defensively, the Badgers held Salt Lake C.C. to a .152 hitting percentage, forcing 25 errors on 164 attempts. Sophomore Savannah Tanner had a match-high 28 digs while McKee and Montague had four blocks each.
Thursday's win marked the eighth victory in the past four years, including seven straight wins over the Bruins.
The Badgers will next take on Southern Idaho on Saturday, Oct. 5 in Ephraim. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
