Box Score 4 RICHFIELD, Utah (Aug. 24, 2019) -- After posting back-to-back wins on Friday at the Snow College Invitational in Richfield, Utah., the 11th-ranked Badgers picked up where they left off with a pair of wins on Saturday as well.
Snow wasted little time to dispatch Trinidad State in three-straight sets, 25-13, 25-18, 25-20. Later in the afternoon, the Badgers came out on fire against Eastern Arizona to take a 25-15 victory in the first set; however, the Gila Monsters made things interesting with a 26-24 win in the second set. Snow regrouped and collected 25-17 and 25-21 victories in the third and fourth set to improve to 4-0 on the season.
"We learned some things about our team this weekend -- very positive things," head coach Jeff Reynolds said. "We had some outstanding performances today, and I have a lot of confidence in what this group is capable of accomplishing. I was impressed with how everyone handled their roles this weekend. Everyone contributed to and played a role in our success this weekend."
Against Trinidad State, freshman
Korrin Thornock led the Badgers with nine kills on 18 swings with just one error to hit .444. Sophomore
Sarah Morley came off the bench to rack up eight kills on 13 swings to hit a staggering .615.
"There were a lot of players who scored for us in this morning's match, but Korrin and Sarah both did a nice job of finding the floor against Trinidad State," Reynolds said. "Sarah had a rough Fall Camp -- in terms of injuries -- but she has recovered nicely and has put herself in a position to come back and help the team."
Sophomore
Bridget Triplett led the Badgers with four blocks, while Morley was credited with 14 digs.
In the final match of the Snow College Invitational, which was held at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield, freshman
Lydia Montague racked up a season-high 21 kills on 28 swings, With just one error, Montague hit .714 for the match. Thornock chipped in another eight kills, while
Camden Strain and
Marcie Stapley each had seven kills in the four-set victory. Sophomroe
Savannah Tanner led the Badgers with 14 digs.
Snow College will now return to the friendly confines of the Horne Activity Center on Tuesday, Aug. 27 to take on Eastern Arizona. Match time is slated for 6 p.m. (MT).
