Box Score PRESCOTT, Ariz. (Aug. 31, 2019) -- After suffering its first loss of the season to No. 13 New Mexico Military Institute on Friday evening, the Snow College women's volleyball team came back on Saturday to upend No. 9 Laramie County in straight sets, 3-0. With the win, the Badgers posted a 4-1 record at the Dalton Overstreet Invitational and improved to 9-1 on the season.
The Badgers took the first two sets by a score of 25-21; however, in the third set, Laramie County took a six-point lead late into the set. Snow battled back to equal the score at 23-23 and the two teams traded points until the Sophomore
Andreanna McKee gave the Badgers the lead for good with her 10th kill of the match. Sophomore
Savannah Tanner ended the match at 33-31 with a service ace.
"It wasn't a perfect game, and we had our share of mistakes, but I'm really pleased with the way our team rebounded today and picked up a solid win over Laramie," Snow College head coach Jeff Reynolds said. "Overall, I'm pleased with the weekend. I think we learned some things after the NMMI match on Friday, and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish moving forward."
Against the Eagles, freshman
Lydia Montague lead the team with 11 kills on 21 attempts with just one error. Sophomore
Andreanna McKee added 10 kills on 29 swings, followed by
Korrin Thornock who chipped in nine kills in the victory.
Snow College will next travel to the Starr Corp. Invitational in Twinn Falls, Idaho next weekend. The Badgers will take on Casper College and Missouri West Plains on Friday, followed by a match-up against No. 2 Miami-Dade and Treasure Valley on Saturday.
