EPHRAIM, Utah (February 15, 2021) -- In an in-state battle between two of the top-three teams in the nation, the second-ranked Snow College volleyball team will travel to Price, Utah to take on third-ranked Utah State Eastern on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Match time is slated for 6 p.m.

The Badgers will enter the Scenic West Athletic Conference opener with an overall record of 11-1 on the season, while the Eagles will enter the match with a mark of 14-2. The two teams squared off earlier this season at a pre-season tournament in Sterling, Colo. USUE prevailed, 3-2, which marks the Badgers' only loss of the season.

"Well, this is going to be fun," Snow College head coach Jeff Reynolds said. "It's pretty awesome to have two of the top teams in the nation—who are just two hours apart and have 18 in-state players between the two teams—battling it out in our conference opener this week. We have a great deal of respect for their program, and know what they're capable of doing. It won't take much to get our players fired up for this one. We look forward to a really great match."

The two teams also met in last season's Region XVIII Tournament championship match, with Snow College taking the 3-2 victory to win the Region title. Over the past five seasons, the two teams have met a total of 11 times, with the Badgers holding a 9-2 advantage, including a record of 3-1 in Price. 

This week's Tachikara NJCAA National Division-I Volleyball rankings marks the 42nd consecutive week—dating back to the 2016 season—the Snow College women's volleyball team has been ranked among the nation's top-20 NJCAA volleyball programs. At No. 2 for the second straight week, and third time this season, the Badgers have been ranked among the nation's top-10 programs in 37 of the last 42 weekly rankings.
