The Snow College men's soccer team claimed a 3-2 victory over the College of Southern Nevada Thursday in Ephraim.
Â
The Coyotes opened the scoring in the seventh minute as Kristan Botello fired a shot from roughly 25 yards out.  The ball was perfectly placed in the top right corner of the goal to give the Coyotes a 1-0 advantage.
Â
The Badgers responded in the 42
nd minute on a goal by
Hiroki Okada. Â
Zachary Lifferth provided the assist to Okada who did the rest.  The shot was deflected by the keeper but had enough momentum to find the back of the net to even the score 1-1, where it would stay into halftime.
Â
Snow College broke the tie just 51 seconds into the second half.  Lifferth took a pass from
Taylor Davis and sprinted out into a breakaway.  With one defender and the keeper to beat, Lifferth faked left and shot from his right.  The shot was true, and Snow College took a 2-1 lead. Â
Â
The advantage was short lived as CSN would score just three minutes later on a long cross from the left side of the field that was put home from the right side of the goal.Â
Â
Snow College would once again take the lead in the 59
th minute.  Lifferth took a shot that was safed by the keeper but not secured. Â
Oliver Fehintola cleaned up the rebound and slammed it home to take a 3-2 lead.
Â
The lead would be enough for the Badgers to maintain throughout the match and claim the victory.  With the win, the Badgers improve to 7-3 overall and 5-2 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Â
The Badgers doubled up the Coyotes in shots, 18-9, but both teams had five shots on goal.
Â
Snow College will now turn its attention to Truckee Meadows Community College Saturday.  The Badgers will host the Lizards beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Snow College Soccer Complex.  For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com
