The Snow College football team earned a convincing 30-7 victory over No. 7 Lackawanna College in the regular season finale Saturday.
Â
The Badgers entered the matchup having won three straight matches after defeating Monroe College 34-14 the week prior.  Needing a victory to have any chance of making the NJCAA Playoff, the Badgers left no doubt against the No. 7 Falcons as they led wire-to-wire to earn their eighth victory of the season.
Â
Snow College wasted no time setting the tone as it forced a safety on the opening kickoff.  The Falcons took the kickoff in their own end zone and threw an illegal forward pass that resulted in a safety.  It would be the Badger's defense that would continue the same theme throughout the entire game. Â
Â
The Falcons came into the matchup boasting the nation's third-ranked offense but struggled mightily against the Badger's defensive front.  Lackawanna managed just 2.1 yards per carry on 48 attempts throughout the game.  They totaled 163 gross rushing yards, but the Badgers had tackles for loss that totaled 60 yards.
Â
Snow College held the Falcons scoreless through the first three and half quarters only allowing a touchdown with under nine minutes to go in the game.  Seven points are the second fewest point total the Badgers have allowed all season.  Snow College shut out Gila River Junior College in the fourth game of the season.
Â
Following the safety to start the game, Snow College added a touchdown to start the second quarter.  It was the defensive specialist
Cole Bowers who punched in a 6-yard rushing touchdown to give the Badgers a 10-0 lead after a successful 2-point conversion by
Dallin Bentley.  Snow College would take the 10-0 lead into halftime.
The Badgers continued to fire offensively as they scored a pair of touchdowns within the first six minutes of action to start the second half. Â
Carsen Manookin broke off a 75-yard rushing touchdown, his longest rush of the season.  Manookin leads the team in touchdowns this season with seven.
Â
Snow College got the ball right back after forcing a Falcon punt in less than 30 seconds.  The Badgers would capitalize immediately and score a touchdown to take a 24-0 lead.  It was Deuce Roberson who took a 31-yard pass all the way to the end zone on the first play of the drive.Â
Â
Lackawanna would score their lone points of the game with 8:49 left in the fourth quarter.  Snow College would get the seven points back near the end of the fourth quarter. Â
Rahsul Faison would score his sixth touchdown of the season on a 12-yard rush to give the Badgers the 30-7 lead.
Â
Snow College would salt away the remaining few minutes of action to claim their fourth straight victory and their eighth overall.  The Badgers own an overall record of 23-5 since head coach
Zac Erekson took over the program in 2020. Snow College is 6-5 against ranked opponents under Erekson in his tenure. Â
Â
Despite the victory, Snow College was unable to move up into the top four of the NJCAA Football Poll, which would have put them into the playoff.  Finishing fifth in the rankings, the Badgers will miss out on the playoff for the first time under Erekson.
