Badgers Cruise Past Trappers

Box Score

Goals were cheaper by the dozen Thursday as the Snow College women's soccer team defeated Northwest College 12-0.

The victory marked the second shutout by the Badgers in as many games to start the season.

Skye Kennedy got the scoring started for the Badgers quickly as she took a pass from Candela Gonzalez and found the back of the net in the fourth minute and Snow College quickly took a 1-0 lead.

Emma Young followed up a few minutes later with a goal in the 13th minute.  She caught the pass from Miku Kayama and beat the keeper from about 25 yards out to give Snow College a 2-0 advantage early in the first half.

The Badgers controlled the ball for the majority of the first half but had several shots on goal turned away by NC keeper Audette Rudolph.  Snow College would again find the net in the 20th and 23rd minutes as Kat Alderman and Mallory Ropelato showed some fancy footwork to give the Badgers the 4-0 edge.

The Trappers only managed two shots in the first half, but both were turned away by McKenna Conley.  The Badgers would maintain the defensive prowess and take the 4-0 lead into halftime.

Snow College wasted no time getting the action going in the second half as once again Kennedy scored in the 48th minute.  She received a pass from Mayo Yamamoto, beat her defender, and slipped the shot past the goalie from12 yards out.

Yamamoto and Kennedy would hook up once again in the 55th minute.  Yamamoto served one in to Kennedy who's initial shot was turned away, but she put the second effort in off the rebound to secure the hat trick.

After recording an assist earlier in the game, Kayama got a chance to put one in the net as she was able to maintain possession while avoiding multiple Trapper defenders and score from 16 yards out to give the Badgers a 7-0 lead.

Snow College kept the pressure on netting its eighth goal of the contest in the 64th minute.  Madelyn McQueen took a pass from Kayama and scored from straight away.

Belle Meadows got in on the scoring fun as she scored and assisted on goals in the 72nd and 73rd minutes.  First, Meadows was on the scoring end as she was assisted by Ropelato.  Meadows then paid it forward and provided the pass that McQueen used to find the back of the net.

Ropelato would provide another helper to Kennley Bradley who beat the keeper to extend the Badgers lead to 11-0 a few minutes later.  Cesia Ulloa would add another in the 91st minute giving the Badgers and even dozen.

The Badgers would cruise from their to earn their second victory of the season earning the win 12-0.

In all, Snow College recorded 40 shots in total while only allowing four shots defensively.

The Badgers will turn around quickly and host Casper College Saturday.  Kick off is set for 11 a.m.
