Badgers Stopped by No. 4 Bruins

Coming off a 3-0 sweep in its home opener, the Snow College women's volleyball team was defeated 3-1 by No. 4 Salt Lake Community College Saturday.
 
The Bruins came out firing on all cylinders in the first set and launched out to a 15-6 lead.  The Badgers would rally and bring the score to 16-12 before SLCC went on a 9-2 run to win the opening set 25-14.
 
Set two was much closer as it saw six lead changes and 16 ties.  The Badgers had a set point opportunity with the score at 24-22, but the Bruins wouldn't go down quietly and went on a 3-0 to turn the tables 25-24.  Snow College responded and went a 3-0 run as well to win the set 27-25.
 
The Badgers struggled in set three en route to 25-20 loss.  Snow College committed seven service errors and gave up three service aces.  SLCC led 17-10 midway through the set and never looked back claiming the third set.
 
The Bruins used a 7-1 run in the fourth set to gain a 12-7 lead after the Badgers jumped out to an early lead.  Snow College would try to cut into the lead but only managed to get within four during the rest of the set and the Bruins earned the victory 25-18.
 
Kesa Makasini led the attack for the Badgers as she finished with 14 kills.  Tricia Tua'one and Macie Gordon each had nine kills.  Snow College handed out 41 assists, 21 by Meg Carter and 18 by Corinne Taysom.  As a team, the Badgers finished with a .221 hitting percentage.
 
With the loss, the No. 3 Badgers fall to 11-2 overall and 1-1 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.  Snow College will now turn around and face No. 6 Utah State University Eastern Friday in Price.  The Eagles are 17-3 overall and 1-0 in SWAC play and will enter Friday's matchup riding a 14-game winning streak.
