HEARTBROKEN AGAIN: A tough double-overtime loss against Casper College sent the Snow College men's soccer team on a four-game road swing with a bad taste in the mouth. The Badgers Scenic West Athletic Conference opener against No. 2 Salt Lake Community College brought more of the same as Snow College saw history repeat itself as it was defeated 1-0 in double overtime.
The Badgers would turn things around quickly, however, and earn a 2-0 victory over Truckee Meadows Community College Saturday. Snow College has now won each of its five previous matchups against the Lizards.
The Badgers will look to continue its winning ways against the College of Southern Nevada Thursday with kickoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m. followed by a meeting with Community Christian College Saturday beginning at 1:30 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: After suffering back-to-back double-overtime losses, the Snow College men's soccer team rebounded to defeat Truckee Meadows Community College 2-0 Saturday.
Coming off a heartbreaking 1-0 double-overtime loss against No. 2 Salt Lake Community College Thursday, the Badgers set their sights on the Lizards of TMCC. Two second-half goals propelled Snow College to victory.
It was a quiet first half with neither side being able to gain an advantage. TMCC held the Snow College offense in check as the Badgers were only able to record two shots compared to four for the Lizards.
It was
Oliver Fehintola who broke through early in the second period. In the 52
nd minute, Aruthur Macri and
Elijah Tenger combined to find Fehintola who did the rest and beat the keeper to give the Badgers the 1-0 advantage.
Snow College would add an insurance goal late in the match as
Richard Henry took a pass from
Itsuki Matsuyama and found the back of the net in the 82
nd minute to give the Badgers all the cushion they would need. They salted away the remaining eight minutes of action to earn their third victory of the season 2-0.
HISTORY WITH CSN: The Badgers currently sport a 12-7-1 record against the Coyotes in their series history dating back to 2016. Snow College has won nine of its previous 11 meetings with CSN with a loss coming last season in a 4-2 defeat at home and a 0-0 tie October 5, 2019, also at home.
With all the success the Badgers have had against the Coyotes, they have struggled more on the road. Snow College is 5-6 all time against CSN while playing in North Las Vegas. The Badgers largest margin of victory was a 5-0 result April 17, 2021 in Ephraim.
HISTORY WITH CCC: Snow College played CCC twice last season and cruised to wins on both occasions. The Badgers earned a 7-0 victory in Redlands, California followed by a 9-0 win October 16 in Ephraim. Snow College will aim to extend the winning streak to three games Saturday.
UP NEXT: The Badgers will return home to take on Central Wyoming College in a non-conference matchup. That meeting is set to begin at 1 p.m. Snow College will then return to SWAC play against Colorado Northwestern Community College September 22 at 3:30 p.m. before heading back out on the road to face Utah Valley University Eastern October 1.
