ON THE ROAD AGAIN: After a tough start to Scenic West Athletic Conference play, the Snow College women's soccer team will head back out onto the road with matchups against the College of Southern Idaho Thursday and Community Christian College Saturday.
The No. 8 Badgers suffered a 2-0 defeat to No. 4 Salt Lake Community College to kick off SWAC play followed by a 2-2 draw against Truckee Meadows Community College. The loss to SLCC snapped an 11-game road winning streak the Badgers had dating back to May 1, 2021.
Snow College will look to right the ship at it takes on CSN Thursday with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m. followed by the fourth and final game of the road swing against CCC Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College women's soccer team's Saturday matchup with Truckee Meadows Community College resulted in a 2-2 draw. This draw comes off the Badgers first loss of the season at No. 4 Salt Lake Community College.
Snow College got the scoring started as
Monica Garcia and
Belle Meadows combined to give the Badgers the lead in the 44
th minute. Garcia took the pass from Meadows and finished the play by sneaking one past the keeper.
The 1-0 lead was extremely short lived as TMCC responded only 20 seconds later with the equalizer. The match would go into halftime tied at one apiece.
Fiona Jensen would give the Badgers the lead back in the 78
th minute off an assist from
Mayu Yamamoto and
Mallory Ropelato.
As the match was nearing an end, the Badgers defense relented in the 84
th minute at TMCC's Ariel Kyle had other plans. She leveled the score with the goal to even the match 2-2. The score would stay that way throughout the final minutes of the second half as well as through two 10-minute overtime periods and the match resulted in a 2-2 draw.
Snow College was able to put up 17 total shots with nine shots on goal. Badger's keeper McKenna Conley was busy in goal as she was able to turn away 10 on-goal shot attempts.
HISTORY WITH CSN: It has been mostly success against the Coyotes in the series history dating back to 2016. Snow College holds a 15-1 overall record against CSN including two victories last season.
The Badgers won their first 10 matches with the Coyotes between October 7, 2016, and September 12, 2019. Snow College's only loss against CSN came on October 5, 2019 in a 1-0 loss in Ephraim. Since that loss, Snow College has yet to allow a goal to the Coyotes in five total matches. During those matches, the Badgers have outscored CSN 15-0 and have secured five victories.
HISTORY WITH CCC: Snow College has a very brief history with CCC, but it is one that has been tipped in the Badgers favor. Dating back to 2016, the two teams have only faced each other two times – both last season. Snow College dominated both matches winning one 9-0 and another 8-0. The Badgers will hope to continue its winning ways Saturday.
UP NEXT: The Badgers will return home to play in two matches, the first a non-conference matchup with Central Wyoming College Wednesday, September 14 with kickoff slated for 11:00 a.m. They will also return to SWAC play as they host Colorado Northwestern Community College Thursday, September 22 beginning at 1:00 p.m. before heading back out on road to take on Utah State University Eastern October 1.
