The Snow College women's basketball team earned a pair of victories against Lamar Community College and Trinidad State College at the Lamar College tournament. The Badgers defeated the Lopes 71-61 followed by an 85-59 victory over the Trojans.
The Badgers entered the tournament following the Vista Auto Thanksgiving Classic in Casper Wyoming. They split the two games they played there defeating Western Wyoming Community College 82-68 before suffering a 92-63 victory against Casper College.
Snow College took an early lead, but the Lopes quickly turned things around. They outscored the Badgers in the second quarter to take a 35-31 lead into the halftime break.
The Badgers came out firing in the second half. They outscored LCCC by 12 points in the third period alone to regain the lead. Snow College kept its foot on the pedal in the fourth quarter and went on to earn the 71-61 victory.
Madison Hosino led all scorers with 20 points.
Emily Evans added 14 points while
Kiriana Hawaikirangi put in 10 points and grabbed four rebounds.
Following the victory, the Badgers turned around to face TSC in the two teams' first-ever meeting. The Badgers got out to a smoking start as they outscored the Trojans 22-3 in the first quarter. They carried that momentum into the second quarter and went into halftime with a 40-17 lead.
Snow College would not let up in the second half. Every Badger scored in the game as the team cruised to an 85-59 victory.
Evans paced the Badgers in the box score. She poured in 22 points and secured seven rebounds.
Brooke Pennington was the only other player in double figures with 10 points while dishing out six assists.
The Badgers will culminate their current 10-game road swing at the Columbia Basin Invitational. They will take on Walla Walla Community College Friday at 1:00 p.m. before taking on the host school Columbia Basin College Saturday at 2:00 p.m. For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
