The Snow College men's basketball team has improved to 12-0 following a 107-86 victory against Central Wyoming College Tuesday night in Riverton, Wyoming. This is the best start to a season since the Badgers went 13-0 to begin the 2018-19 campaign.
The Badgers were coming off a pair of impressive victories against Eastern Arizona College and Arizona Western College at the Region 1/Region 18 Challenge last weekend. Snow College defeated the Gila Monsters 92-83 before earning an 80-66 victory against the Matadors.
Both teams got off to hot starts making shots from all over the court consistently. The Rustlers and the Badgers combined to make 17 3-pointers during the first 20 minutes of action. Snow College had a slight edge in that category shooting a resounding 53 percent on 9-17 from beyond the arc.
Because of the hot shooting, neither team was able to build a large lead for much of the first half. The Badgers, however, began to force the Rustlers into tougher shots and began to build a lead over the final few minutes of action. On a handful of occasions, they were able to break the Rustlers' full-court press, which resulted in easy layups for
Max Triplett and
Noah Lemke.
In total, the Badgers shot 60 percent from the field in the first half on 22-37 shooting. They took a 59-45 lead into the halftime break.
Snow College continued to build the lead to begin the second half. The Badgers began the second half on a 7-0 burst to take a 66-45 lead. They would eventually extend the lead to 25 points, but the Rustlers fought back. CWC went on a 13-4 extended run to trim the lead to 83-67 midway through the second half.
A timeout reignited the Badgers fire as they exploded out for an 11-0 run within three minutes of game time to essentially put the game to bed. The Badgers led by as many as 27 points in the second half while shooting 58 percent from the field during that time. Snow College would go on to defeat the Rustlers for the second time this season by a final score of 107-86.
The Badgers shot 59 percent from the field throughout the entire game against the Rustlers. The Badgers have shot 55 percent of more in a game seven times this season. What's more, the Badgers had 31 assists on 44 made field goals through the game. This is the first time the Badgers have recorded 30 or more assists in a game since they handed out 41 dimes in a 128-55 victory against Community Christian College Feb, 18, 2023.
Six players scored in double figures led by a trio of Badgers with 15 points. Triplett and
Isaac Finlinson both recorded 15 points and six rebounds on a combined 13-22 shooting from the field.
Dylan Jones went 5-8 from deep to finish with 15 points.
Coleman Ford scored in double figures for the first time as a Badger as he finished with 14 and was a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc.
