The Snow College men's basketball team suffered a 79-65 loss against the No. 1 College of Southern Idaho Wednesday night in Ephraim. Despite being down only one point at half time, the Badgers couldn't push past the top-ranked Golden Eagles.
Snow College came into the game after an exhilarating home victory against the No. 5 Salt Lake Community College Bruins.
Chase Potter would be the hero as he finished with 18 points and sunk the game-winning free throw.
Max Triplett also added 18 points on 7-10 shooting.
In the Badger's last matchup against the Golden Eagles, they faltered late in the game and lost 83-78 in a hard-fought battle. Despite shooting 54 percent from beyond the arc in the second half, Snow College would not prevail against CSI.
As the game began, CSI fought valiantly to push ahead in a tightly-contested first half. The Golden Eagles continued to extend the lead thanks to guard Isaiah Moses's 10 first-half points. At the 6:36 mark, the Badgers trailed by as many as 11, but they were anxious to make a comeback.
In the final six minutes of first-half play, Snow College went 4-6 from 3-point range and cut CSI's lead to just one. The Badgers forced 11 turnovers while committing only six themselves as they fought their way back into the game. The first half came to a 33-32 close for the Golden Eagles.
Despite the Badgers best efforts in the second half, it would not be enough to propel them past CSI. The Golden Eagles would shine offensively and shoot 50 percent from the field as the game continued.
The Badgers fought boldly and were led by Potter who had 10 second-half points going 4-8 from the field. However, CSI's Robert Whaley would excel in the second half as he scored 15 points on 6-9 shooting. The Golden Eagles would ultimately seal the game on a 6-0 run and earn a 79-65 victory.
As the game came to a close, there would be two Snow College players in double figures. Potter finished the game with 18 points and went 2-4 from deep while
Colin Christensen contributed 11 points.
