The Snow College softball team culminated its season winning three out of four games against Utah State University Eastern Monday and Tuesday in Ephraim.
Â
The Badgers entered the weekday series vs the Eagles following a four-game series against Salt Lake Community College.  Snow College won the opening game of the series against the Bruins but lost the final three games. Â
Â
USUE started game 1 with a bang by taking an early lead on a three-run homer in the first inning.  That would be the only runs the Eagles would score throughout the game as
Andrea Sweat pitched a complete game allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out seven batters.Â
Â
Snow College responded in the second inning as
Kaylee Lyman blasted an RBI triple and scored on a throwing error to bring the score to 3-2.  Following a sacrifice fly in the third from
Bailey Bowers to even the score,
Kaitlyn Slade hit a solo homer to right field in the fourth to give the Badgers a 4-3 lead.
Â
The Badgers scored four runs in the sixth inning capped off by a three-run homer by
Hadlee Walker, giving them the 9-3 victory.
Â
Snow College secured a come-from-behind victory in game two Monday sweeping the day with an 8-7 victory. USUE jumped out to a 4-1 lead through four innings.  The Eagles would extend their lead and take a 7-2 advantage into the sixth inning.
Â
The Badger's bats came alive in the bottom of the sixth as
Emma Higley,
Tasia Shibuya, and Bowers each hit homers to tie the game at seven apiece.  Snow College quickly recorded three outs in the top of the seventh to give its offense a chance to win the game in the bottom of the inning.
Â
Following a line out and a strike, Higley hit a sharp ground ball through the left side before Shibuya delivered a double to left center field giving the Badgers a walk-off victory as Higley scored from first.
Â
A nine-run second inning proved to be the Badger's downfall in game three of the series.  Snow College outscored the Eagles 9-7 after the top of the second inning.  USUE scored nine runs in the second and never looked back as they picked up their lone victory of the series, 16-9.
Â
The Badgers exploded for 15 runs in game four en route to a 15-6 victory.  It was the Badger's turn for a big inning as they scored eight runs in the first inning.  Lyman extended the lead in the second inning with a two-run homer to right center, giving the Badgers a 10-3 lead.
Â
The two teams traded runs over the next three innings, and Snow College entered the bottom of the fifth leading 12-6.  Walker reached base on a walk and was pushed to third on a double from
August Cowan. Â
Kiley Mitchell then stepped to the plate and crushed a home run to dead center to give the Badgers the 15-6 victory via the mercy rule.
Â
Walker led the charge offensively for the Badgers as she went 8-13 over the weekend with five extra-base hits, including two homers while driving in four runs.  Cowan also had two homers and drove in seven RBIs while going 7-14 with four doubles.
Kaci Smith picked up two victories inside the circle as she allowed just four earned runs on 12 hits over nine innings pitched.
Â
The Badgers finished the season with an overall record of 24-27 and a 16-24 mark within the Scenic West Athletic Conference.  The 24 wins is a four-win improvement from the 2022 campaign when the Badgers went 20-34.Â
Â
Snow College finished fifth within the SWAC standings and will not participate in the conference tournament after the SWAC reduced the number of tournament teams from six to four at the beginning of the season.
