The No. 15 Snow College women's soccer team dropped the opening match of the season to Western Wyoming Community College 2-1 Wednesday.

The Badgers surrendered a goal in the third minute off a Mustang's corner kick.  WWCC's Tess Thoman served a ball in from the right corner where Callee Hill headed it into the back of the net to give the Mustangs a quick lead.

WWCC would add another goal in the 21
st minute and would head into the halftime break trailing 2-0. Â

The Badgers controlled the ball for the majority of the second half.  They outshot the Mustangs 10-3 in the final 45 minutes while also recording five more corner kicks.  The Badgers cut the deficit in half in the 64
th minute.Â

Saige Meryhew who was able to sneak the ball past the keeper to notch the first goal of the season for the Badgers. Â

Snow College maintained possession for much of the final 25 minutes of action but was unable to net the equalizer and would eventually suffer the 2-1 loss at the final buzzer.
