OPENING SERVE: The Snow College volleyball team will travel to No. 7 Utah State University Eastern Wednesday. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in Price, Utah.
Wednesday's match will mark the first game of the second round of conference games in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. The Badgers are currently in third place behind USUE and No. 11 Salt Lake Community College.
Snow College went 3-2 during the first round of conference games with wins against Colorado Northwestern Community College (3-0), SLCC, (3-0), and North Idaho College (3-0). The Badgers have dropped to USUE (3-1) and the College of Southern Idaho (3-2).
KNOW YOUR FOE: The Badgers are 25-10 against the Eagles historically after dropping their first matchup this season 3-1.
The Eagles are 16-5 overall and 5-0 in SWAC play and are riding an eight-game winning streak that dates back to Sept. 13. The Eagles have only dropped one set during this win streak. This lone set loss was to the Badgers during the earlier matchup this season.
LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College volleyball team split its games against the College of Southern Idaho and North Idaho College over the weekend. The Badgers dropped to CSI 3-2 and defeated NIC 3-0.
The Badgers were coming off a 3-1 loss to No. 7 Utah State University Eastern. Snow College kept all four sets very close and made the Eagles work for their victory. The Badgers are now 25-10 against the Eagles historically.
The Badgers maintained a lead against CSI throughout the first set and held an 18-16 lead. The Golden Eagles then went on a seven-point run to go up 23-18. The Badgers were unable to recover and dropped the opening frame, 25-20.
The second set stayed close until the score was knotted at 10 when the Badgers went on a five-point run. This run was followed by two separate three-point bursts to give the Badgers a 21-12 lead
The Golden Eagles went on their own five-point run to try and pull the set back within reach. Snow College was able to regain the momentum and claimed the second set 25-18.
The third set started similarly to the first with the Badgers maintaining a lead. They went on a late five-point burst to go up 20-12 and eventually claimed the set 25-20.
The fourth set started out with a five-point run for the Golden Eagles putting them up 5-0 early. The Badgers slowly pulled the set closer until the score was 16-15 in favor of CSI.
The two teams then split the next 12 points to push the game to 22-21, still in favor of the Golden Eagles. CSI then closed out the last three points to claim the fourth set 25-21 and push the game to a fifth set.
The fifth set was knotted at four when the Golden Eagles went on a four-point burst that put the Badgers into an 8-4 deficit. Snow College was unable to climb its way out and ultimately dropped the fifth set 15-10.
The Badgers then traveled to NIC and defeated the Cardinals in three sets. This was the first matchup against the Cardinals since 2016 due to them rejoining the conference this season.
The Badgers won the first set 25-17 against the Cardinals. Snow College then won the second set with a dominant 18-point victory to win 25-7. The Badgers ultimately claimed the three-set victory with a 25-20 third-set win.
Maggie Larsen led the Badgers offensively with 23 kills followed by
Liv Marshall with 21.
Kinley Kerbs tallied 37 assists with Myah Hedgepath adding 24 of her own.
Aspen Anderson led the Badgers defensively with 45 digs over the two games.
