Volleyball Wraps Up Home Schedule Against CSI, NIC

OPENING SERVE: The Snow College volleyball team will wrap up home conference play this weekend against the College of Southern Idaho and North Idaho College. The Badgers will face the Golden Eagles Friday at 6 p.m. and the Cardinals Saturday at 12 p.m. Both matches will be played inside the Horne Activity Center in Ephraim, Utah.

The Badgers are currently in third place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings with a 3-3 record. The Badgers are behind No. 5 Utah State University Eastern and No. 11 Salt Lake Community College. 

The Badgers are coming off a 3-0 defeat against USUE. Snow College dropped both matches to the Eagles this season.

KNOW YOUR FOE: The Badgers are 8-25 against the Golden Eagles historically, dropping the last four matches. Snow College lost the first regular season matchup with CSI 3-2 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

The Golden Eagles are 3-4 in conference play this season after splitting matches last weekend. CSI lost 3-1 to SLCC and defeated Colorado Northwestern Community College 3-0.

CSI is currently tied with NIC in fourth place in the SWAC standings. Both teams have three remaining games in the regular season.

Following Friday's match, the Badgers will host the Cardinals. Snow College is 5-9 against NIC historically, continuing on a three-game win streak dating back to 2016. The Cardinals rejoined the SWAC this season and were defeated 3-0 by the Badgers in the first matchup this season.

The Cardinals are 3-4 this season after defeating CNCC 3-0 and losing 3-0 to SLCC this past weekend. The Cardinals will travel to USUE Friday before visiting the Badgers in Ephraim.

LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College volleyball team dropped its matchup against Utah State University Eastern 3-0 last Wednesday. The Badgers lost both matches against the Eagles this season, dropping the first match 3-1.

The Badgers were coming off a split weekend dropping 3-2 to the College of Southern Idaho and defeating North Idaho College 3-0.

The Badgers are currently sitting in third place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings with a 3-3 record. Snow College is behind No. 7 USUE (6-0) and No. 11 Salt Lake Community College 5-2). 

Snow College got off to a hot start in set one, going up 5-0 to begin the game. The Badgers were able to maintain a lead for the majority of the first set and held a 23-19 advantage. 

The Eagles then went on a late four-point run to tie up the game at 23. The next four points were then split between the two teams to knot the game at 25. USUE was able to win the final two points to win the first set 27-25.

The second set got off to a rocky start with the Eagles starting the set on a seven-point burst, forcing an early Badger timeout. The Badgers were eventually able to trim the lead to 11-7 in favor of USUE. The Eagles kept the Badgers at arm's length the remainder of the match to win 25-17.

The third set stayed close, with the rally going back-and-forth and the Badgers held a 12-11 lead midway through the period. The Eagles then went on a five-point run to go up 16-12.

The Badgers stayed within four points until the Eagles went on a four-point burst to go up 23-15 to push the Badgers out of reach. USUE eventually claimed the third set 25-16 to win the match 3-0.

UP NEXT: The Badgers will travel to CNCC Friday Nov. 1. The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in Rangely, Colorado. The Badgers will then finish the regular season Saturday Nov. 2 at SLCC.
