The Snow College women's soccer team tied 2-2 against Utah State University Eastern last Saturday. This was the first draw the No. 11 Badgers have recorded this season.
Snow College was coming off of two shutout victories over Truckee Meadows Community College and the College of Southern Idaho the weekend prior. The Badgers defeated the Lizards 8-0 and the Golden Eagles 3-0.
Saturday's match marked the first game in the second half of the conference schedule for the Badgers. Snow College is sitting in second place behind No. 7 Salt Lake Community College.
The match got off to a quick start with a goal from Liv Harding in the 8th minute on an assist from Ali Spencer. The Badgers soon added onto their lead with another Harding goal from Bailee Ballard in the 18th minute.
Harding has tallied 16 goals for the season slotting her tied for third place in the nation, only one goal behind second place. Harding also leads the Scenic West Athletic Conference in goals, doubling the next closest scorer.
Soon after the two Badger goals, the Eagles scored one of their own in the 25th minute to pull the game back to a one goal difference. The Badgers entered halftime with a 2-1 lead.
Quickly after the second half began, the Eagles scored again in the 49th minute to tie the game at two. Although the Badgers had their chances in the second half, they were unable to find the back of the net and finished regulation in a 2-2 draw.
The Badgers outshot the Eagles 16-8 with eight shots on goal. Six of the Badger shots were turned away by the Eagle goalkeeper. Hayley Ogden saved two of the four shots on goal from the Eagles. Ogden has allowed only eight goals in 11 games this season.
Snow College will finish out its home slate of conference games against SLCC and Colorado Northwestern Community College next week. The Badgers will host the Bruins Thursday at 1 p.m. and the Spartans Saturday at 11 a.m. Both matches are scheduled to kickoff at the Snow College Soccer Complex in Ephraim, Utah.
