The Snow College volleyball team fell to Eastern Arizona College 3-1 in the Rocky Mountain B District Championship.
The Badgers were coming off a 3-2 loss to No. 8 Utah State University Eastern in the Region 18 Championship game. They defeated No. 12 Salt Lake Community College 3-1 in the semifinals to make it to the title game.
The first set stayed with EAC owning a slim 11-10 lead. The Badgers then went on a six-point burst to go up 16-11. The Gila Monsters tallied five of the next six points to push the game back within one.
The next four points were split before the Badgers went on a late three-point run to go up 22-18. The last six points were split, but it was enough for Snow College to win the first set 25-21.
The Badgers were up 9-7 in the second set when the Gila Monsters went on a six-point run to go up 13-9. The Badgers pushed back with a five-point burst to regain the lead at 14-13.
EAC then went on an eight to one run to push the lead to 21-15. The Badgers went on a late three-point burst to bring the score within three. The comeback attempt was thwarted, and EAC finished off the set after claiming the last two points to win set two 25-20.
The Gila Monsters jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead to begin the third set. The Badgers clawed back after scoring eight of the next 11 points to bring the score at 11-10 in favor of EAC.
The Gila Monsters went on a three-point burst to go up 14-10 before the Badgers tallied the next five points to regain the lead for the first time since leading 14-13 in the second set. The next 14 points were split to favor the Badgers at 22-21. EAC then scored the last four points to win 25-22.
The fourth set remained close for the entire set with the largest lead being no more than three for either team throughout the set. Snow College was up 12-11 when EAC went on a three-point burst that was answered back by a Badger three-point run to push the score to 15-14.
The Gila Monsters took four of the next seven points to knot the game at 20. EAC then tallied five of the last eight points to eventually take the set 25-23, and the game 3-1.
Cami Christensen led the Badgers offensively with 14 kills closely followed by Maggie Larsen with 12. Kinley Kerbs led in assists with 33 and digs with 15. Liv Marshall closely followed with 14 and Aspen Anderson had 10 digs of her own.
The No. 19 Badgers would now need to receive an at-large bid to continue their season in the national tournament. If they don't receive the bid, the Badgers will wrap up their season with a 16-10 overall season record.
