The Snow College men's basketball team earned a 100-50 victory over the Central Wyoming College Rustlers last Saturday in Ephraim. With the victory, the Badgers improve to 10-1 overall to begin the season.
Snow College entered the standalone game with the Rustlers off the heels of the Wrangler Club shootout. The Badgers collected two victories, including an 89-85 victory against No. 9 Odessa College. Snow College also defeated New Mexico Military Institute to wrap up the tournament.
The Badgers controlled the game from the opening tip Saturday against the Rustlers.
Chance Trujillo (Fr./Kaysville, Utah/Davis HS) scored the first five points with a layup and a 3-pointer in the opening minutes.
CWC leveled the score at seven in the early minutes of the first half. Snow College then scored 42 of the next 44 points to take a commanding 49-9 lead. Over that time, the Badgers went 20-28 from the field. They limited the Rustlers to just 1-13 from the field and forced 10 turnovers. The Badgers went into the halftime break leading 53-13.
The second half followed a similar story to the first as the Badgers used a 9-2 run out of the gate to take a 62-15 lead. The advantage never dipped below 39 points throughout the second half as the Badgers led by as many as 52 before securing the 100-50 victory.
Seven Badgers scored in double figures led by
Isaac Finlinson (So./St. George, Utah/Dixie HS), who finished with 15 points and 5 rebounds.
Isaac Garrett (So./Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleasant Grove HS) had 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, while
Sean Felts (Fr./Draper, Utah/Crimson Cliffs, HS) recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Trujillo tallied 12 points and 4 rebounds.
Mark Brown Jr. (So./South Phoenix, Arizona/Bella Vista Prep) finished with 12 points while
Kyle Lemke (Fr./St. George, Utah/Dixie HS) and
McCaden Adams (Fr./Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleasant Grove HS) each added 10 points in the victory.
Snow College shot zero free throws throughout the game, which is the first time they have not shot a free throw in program history. The Rustlers also committed just 1 foul in Saturday's game, which is the fewest an opponent has ever committed against the Badgers.
