Men's Basketball Takes on Rustlers in Neutral Rematch

GAME NOTES: The Snow College men's basketball team will square off in a rematch against Central Wyoming College Wednesday in Taylorsville, Utah, in a neutral site game.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. inside the Lifetime Activities Center.

The Badgers and the Rustlers just met last Saturday in Ephraim.  Snow College used a dominant 42-2 run in the first half to walk away with a convincing victory, 100-50.  As a team, the Badgers shot 58 percent from the field in the win.

The Badgers had seven players score at least 10 points in Saturday's game for the first time since Feb 18, 2023.  Snow College currently has six players who score an average of 8.8 points or more per game.

Sean Felts (Fr./Draper, Utah/Crimson Cliffs, HS) recorded his first career double-double in the Badgers' 100-50 victory against CWC.  Felts, who is averaging 4.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game this season, scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Saturday, both career highs.

Snow College shot better than 50 percent from the field in their victory against the Rustlers Saturday.  This is the 8th game this season the Badgers have shot better than 50 percent from the field.  As a team this season, they shoot an average of 53.4 percent from the field, which slots them at 7th overall in the nation.

The Badgers rank 28th in a pair of ball handling categories.  They average 18.5 assists per game while only committing 11.8 turnovers per game, both of which lands them at 28th in the nation in both categories.

The Rustlers own a 4-8 overall record to begin the 2024-25 season. They had won two of their last three games entering the matchup with the Badgers last Saturday.  As a team, they score an average of 55.3 points per game, which is the second fewest in the nation.

The Badgers are 12-2 all time against the Rustlers and have won 12 straight games after dropping the first two meetings.  Snow College earned a 107-86 victory in the previous meeting December 5, 2023 in Riverton, Wyoming.

LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College men's basketball team earned a 100-50 victory over the Central Wyoming College Rustlers last Saturday in Ephraim.  With the victory, the Badgers improve to 10-1 overall to begin the season.

Snow College entered the standalone game with the Rustlers off the heels of the Wrangler Club shootout.  The Badgers collected two victories, including an 89-85 victory against No. 9 Odessa College.  Snow College also defeated New Mexico Military Institute to wrap up the tournament.

The Badgers controlled the game from the opening tip Saturday against the Rustlers.  Chance Trujillo (Fr./Kaysville, Utah/Davis HS) scored the first five points with a layup and a 3-pointer in the opening minutes.

CWC leveled the score at seven in the early minutes of the first half.  Snow College then scored 42 of the next 44 points to take a commanding 49-9 lead. Over that time, the Badgers went 20-28 from the field.  They limited the Rustlers to just 1-13 from the field and forced 10 turnovers.  The Badgers went into the halftime break leading 53-13.

The second half followed a similar story to the first as the Badgers used a 9-2 run out of the gate to take a 62-15 lead.  The advantage never dipped below 39 points throughout the second half as the Badgers led by as many as 52 before securing the 100-50 victory.

Seven Badgers scored in double figures led by Isaac Finlinson (So./St. George, Utah/Dixie HS), who finished with 15 points and 5 rebounds.  Isaac Garrett (So./Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleasant Grove HS) had 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Sean Felts (Fr./Draper, Utah/Crimson Cliffs, HS) recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
