The Snow College women's basketball team suffered an 82-57 loss against Utah State University Eastern Saturday in Price. With the loss, the Badgers drop to 12-9 overall and 2-5 within Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Badgers came into the weekend matchup with the Eagles following a pair of losses – one of which to USUE. They suffered an 80-62 loss against No. 23 Salt Lake Community College Feb. 1 in Ephraim.
The Eagles used a 12-2 burst to open the game and had a double-digit lead four minutes into the action. The Badgers trimmed the lead to six points before an 11-0 run gave USUE a 23-6 lead. USUE maintained the momentum and built a 20-point lead before taking a 44-30 advantage into the halftime break.
The Badgers were never able to trim into the lead and found themselves trailing 64-34 following a 17-2 extended Eagles' run to begin the third quarter. The deficit would prove to be insurmountable as the Eagles earned the 82-57 victory.
Maliyah Elliot led the Badgers offensively with 14 points. She also grabbed five rebounds.
Ainsley Thurber was the only other Badger in double figures with 10 points. As a team, the Badgers shot 38 percent from the field and 25 percent from beyond the arc.
Snow College will now return home for its final homestand of the season. The Badgers will host a pair of opponents to cap off its home schedule beginning with North Idaho College Thursday.
