The Snow College men's basketball team suffered a 74-69 loss against North Idaho College Thursday in Ephraim. The Badgers shot just 27 percent in the second half which is tied for their lowest shooting performance in any half this season.
The Badgers entered this game following a 90-58 loss against Utah State University Eastern last weekend in Price. This came following an 87-58 victory against Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely.
The Badgers got out to a quick start against the Cardinals. A
Dylan Jones triple and an
Isaac Finlinson dunk helped the Badgers take a 12-4 lead just three minutes into action. The Cardinals slowly began to cut into the advantage before leveling things at 19 apiece with 12 and a half minutes to play in the opening period.
Things stayed close through the middle minutes before a couple of layups from
Isaac Garrett helped the Badgers take a 39-30 lead with 3:30 left. NIC ended the half on a quick 5-0 burst to trim the Badgers' lead to 42-37 heading into the halftime break.
Snow College extended its lead to a game-high 10 points within the first two minutes of the second half. The Cardinals turned the game on its head when they went on a 14-3 run to take a 61-58 lead with under eight minutes to play.
The Badgers would be able to regain the lead briefly with a
Colin Christensen layup with under five to play. NIC responded to take a 71-66 lead before
Gaige Savage cut the deficit to two following a 3-pointer, but it was too little too late as the Badgers suffered the 74-69 defeat.
Jones led all scorers with 20 points and five rebounds.
Max Triplett recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Christensen chipped in 11 points and six rebounds in the loss.
The Badgers will look to turn the page as they welcome the College of Southern Idaho to town for sophomore night. The Golden Eagles are 19-7 overall and 6-2 within conference play. They suffered a 76-64 loss to No. 10 Salt Lake Community College Thursday and defeated the Badgers 85-71 in Twin Falls, Jan. 13. For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
