The Snow College men's basketball team suffered an 86-64 loss against Salt Lake Community College Thursday in Taylorsville. With the loss, the Badgers fall short of making the Region 18 Tournament and finish in fifth place within the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
Snow College entered the midweek matchup following an 80-69 victory against the College of Southern Nevada. The Badgers needed a victory over the conference-leading Bruins to ensure a path to the conference tournament.
The Badgers found themselves in an early hole as the Bruins jumped out to a 13-5 lead four and a half minutes into the action. SLCC was able to continue building on the lead and held a 34-19 advantage with six minutes left in the first half.
A 3-pointer from
Dylan Jones cut the deficit to 10 a few minutes later, but a 13-0 run from the Bruins gave them a 23-point lead. The Bruins would enter halftime with a 47-28 advantage.
Isaac Finlinson opened the second half with a triple, but the Badgers were outscored 15-5 over the next five minutes which gave the Bruins a 62-36 edge. Snow College would trail by as many as 32 before suffering the 86-64 defeat.
Two Badgers scored in double figures led by Finlinson, who recorded 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Isaac Garret chipped in 12 points and secured seven boards in the loss.
