The Snow College women's basketball team suffered an 84-53 loss against No. 20 Salt Lake Community College Thursday in Taylorsville. With the loss, the Badgers season ends after finishing outside the top four teams that make the Region 18 tournament.
The Badgers entered the matchup with the Bruins following a 70-66 loss against the College of Southern Nevada. Snow College had lost each of its last six games entering Thursday's matchup.
The Badgers jumped out to an early 6-5 lead three minutes into action but the Bruins turned things around and outscored the Badgers 8-4 over the rest of the opening period to take a 14-10 lead.
The Bruins offense exploded to begin the second quarter as a 10-0 run gave them a 26-12 lead. Conversely, SLCC ramped up its defensive effort and held the Badgers to just eight points throughout the entire quarter. The Bruins entered halftime with a 40-18 lead.
The Badgers had their best offensive quarter of the game following halftime, but they were unable to trim the deficit. SLCC would lead by as many as 33 points en route to securing the 84-53 victory.
Three Badgers finished in double figures led by
Ainsley Thurber with 12 points.
Enid Vaifanua chipped in 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds while
Iyana Beh finished with 10 points and six boards.
