Â

Â
LAST TIME OUT: It was a convincing 56-0 victory for the Snow College football team Saturday against the Utah Islanders. The Badgers allowed just six total rushing yards and amassed more than 550 yards of total offense in front of a sold-out Terry Foote Stadium.
Â
The 2024 season got off to a booming start as
Shandon King returned the opening kickoff 88 yards to the house to give the Badgers a 7-0 lead following the
Keaton Rosquist extra point just 14 seconds into the game.Â
Â
The Badgers' defense was not to be outdone on their first drive of the season. A pair of sacks from
Jesse Wilson sandwiched a tackle for loss by
Cayden Miller and Snow College forced a punt, but the punt was fumbled to give the ball back to the Islanders.
Â
Utah again failed to move the ball down the field and punted back to the Badgers who took over at the Islanders' 46-yard line. Snow College gained a first down, but the drive quickly stalled, and the Badgers were forced to punt.
Â
Both teams exchanged punts through the majority of the first quarter before the Badgers quickly scored again in the final minute of the opening period.Â
Matt Wilson did all the damage as he took the first play of the drive 87 yards down the field but was tackled at the 1-yard line. Following a false start, Wilson finished the job on the next play from six yards out to extend the lead to 14-0.
Â
The Snow College defense forced and recovered a fumble on the first play of the next drive and the offense wasted no time to capitalize. Badgers' quarterback
Donnie Smith found
Kaden Eggett for a 16-yard pitch and catch, and the lead stretched to 21-0.
Â
The Islanders put together a small drive but their field goal attempt was blocked by
Cam Mamalis and the Badgers regained possession. They proceeded to use 11 plays and march 79 yards down the field to score. It was Smith and Eggett who connected again for a 21-yard score and the Badgers took a 28-0 lead into the halftime break.
Â
The Islanders' first possession of the second half went nowhere and the Badgers scored on the subsequent possession. Smith found
Reggie Frischknecht, who ran a post route, splitting two defenders, and walked untouched into the endzone to give the Badgers a 35-0 advantage.
Â
Snow College flexed its muscles on defense again and forced a punt after three plays on the Islanders' next drive.Â
De'yhare Overstreet caught a pair passes totaling 34 yards before
Drew Patterson punched in a 1-yard rush to extend the lead 42-0.
Â
The Badgers would score for a third time in the quarter as
Adonis Tillman busted a 70-yard rush and took it to the house in the waning minutes of the third quarter. The final tally of the game came in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter.
Isaiah Lauofo scored a touchdown on a 47-yard tote to give the Badgers the 56-0 victory.
Â
Smith went 10-21 for 192 yards and three touchdowns. Tillman and Wilson each rushed for over 100 yards and a touchdown. King led the Badgers in receiving with three receptions and 69 yards.
Â
As a team, the Badgers gained 551 yards of total offense including 349 rushing yards. The defense was stout allowing just six total rushing yards and 123 yards of total offense. They also tallied seven sacks for a total of 40 yards to aid in the victory.
