Volleyball Takes On UFirst Intermountain Invitational

OPENING SERVE: The Snow College volleyball team will begin its last non-conference invitational beginning Thursday at the UFirst Intermountain Invitational in Taylorsville, Utah. 

Thursday's game is against Weatherford College at 7 p.m. Friday's matches are slotted against Trinity Valley Community College at 11 a.m. and New Mexico Military Institute at 3 p.m. Saturday's match against Seward County Community College is scheduled for 12 p.m.

The Badgers are 7-1 overall following a weekend sweep at the Starr Corporation Invitational in Twin Falls, Idaho.  They defeated Laramie County Community College Western Wyoming Community College, Central Wyoming College and Jefferson College and did not lose a single set in the process.

KNOW YOUR FOE: The Badgers have never played Weatherford College in the program's history. The Coyotes' are 10-4 overall on the season and are on a current nine-game win streak dating back to Aug. 31.  They sit at eighth in the nation in the NJCAA Division I Volleyball Poll.

TVCC is currently 8-5 overall and will play two more games before Friday's matchup with the Badgers. Snow College lost its lone meeting with the Cardinals in a three-set sweep Aug. 18, 2023. TVCC is currently ranked ninth in the nation.

The Badgers are 3-4 against No. 3 NMMI historically dropping the last matchup in 2023 in three sets. The Broncos are 10-2 and are on a current four-game win streak. The Broncos will play Salt Lake Community College and the College of Southern Idaho before facing Snow College on Friday.

Snow College is 2-1 against SCCC all-time with the last matchup occurring in 2021. SCCC is 4-7 on the season and will be the Badgers last game of the invitational Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College women's volleyball team swept the weekend away at the Starr Corporation Invitational in Twin Falls, Idaho. The Badgers collected four more victories for their season with victories over Laramie County Community College (3-0), Western Wyoming Community College (3-0), Central Wyoming College (3-0), and Jefferson College (3-0).

The Badgers began the invitational with a 3-0 victory over the Golden Eagles. The Badgers took the sweep with a 25-16 first set, a 25-19 second set, and a 25-11 third set. 

The Badgers defeated WWCC with another 3-0 victory in the second game of the invitational. Snow College took the sets with scores of 25-11, 25-17, and 25-19. 

The Badgers entered day two of the tournament following the pair of victories and met up with CWC. Snow College swept the game yet again with 25-19, 25-18, and 25-23 set wins. The Badgers had their first 40 plus kill game of the season against CWC.

Snow College took the fourth and final game in another three set sweep over the Vikings. This sweep included set victories of 28-26, 25-16, and 25-11. Snow College had 16 total aces throughout the fourth game.

Liv Marshall led the Badgers in kills over the weekend with a total of 35. Madi Orth added 30 kills of her own. Kinley Kerbs tallied 79 assists across the four games. Aspen Anderson led the defense for the Badgers with 58 digs over the weekend.

UP NEXT: The Badgers will play one last match before beginning Scenic West Athletic Conference play at Western Wyoming Community College Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. The Badgers recently swept the Mustangs in the Starr Corporation Invitational last weekend. For additional information, visit snowbadgers.com.
