Volleyball Drops Three of Four at UFirst Intermountain Invitational

The Snow College volleyball team dropped three of four games at the UFirst Intermountain Invitational over the weekend. The Badgers were defeated by No. 8 Weatherford College (3-1), No. 3 New Mexico Military Institute (3-0), and No. 9 Trinity Valley Community College (3-0) before recording a win against No. 14 Eastern Arizona College in their last match of the invitational (3-2).

Snow College entered the weekend with a 7-1 overall record in non-conference play after sweeping the Starr Corporation Invitational in 12 sets against four opponents.

The Badgers suffered a 3-1 defeat to Weatherford College. The Badgers kept the sets very close, losing the first two 25-23 and 26-24. The Badgers won the third set 25-23 before dropping the fourth set 25-22.

Snow College suffered back-to-back losses during the second day of the invitational. The first loss came against NMMI, with the Badgers dropping the sets 25-18, 25-14, and 26-24 after rallying to make the last set close.

The second of the back-to-back losses came against TVCC. The Badgers kept the games fairly close with losses of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-20 through the three sets.

Snow College was then victorious over EAC in five sets in the final game of the invitational. The Badgers won the first set 25-18 before dropping the next two 25-10 and 25-14. The Badgers then won a nailbiter fourth set with a victory of 27-25 to push the match into the final set. Snow College then claimed its first win of the invitational 15-13. 

Kinley Kerbs led Snow College in assists with 102 total across the four-game invitational. Liv Marshall tallied 49 kills over the weekend. Aspen Anderson led the Badgers defensively with 51 digs over the four games.

The Badgers will play their last non-conference matchup against Western Wyoming Community College in a stand-alone game Sept. 18. The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in Rock Springs, Wyoming. For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
