OPENING SERVE: The Snow College volleyball team will continue its non-conference schedule Friday and Saturday in Twin Falls, Idaho at the Starr Corporation Invitational. Friday's games are against Laramie County Community College at 12 p.m. followed by Western Wyoming Community College at 5 p.m. Saturday's games are against Central Wyoming College slotted at 10 a.m. and against Jefferson College starting at 5 p.m.
The Badgers are currently 3-1 overall following the Chapman Automotive AWC Invitational that occurred Aug. 23-24.Â
KNOW YOUR FOE: LCCC is currently 3-5 to begin their season and is on a three-game losing streak with their last win taking place Aug. 29 against Central Arizona College. The Badgers are 3-0 against the Golden Eagles all-time with the last matchup occurring in 2021.Â
Snow College is 13-8 against WWCC historically. The Badgers have won the last 12 games dating back to Sept. 1, 2016 and the most recent victory Sept. 12, 2023. The Mustangs hold a record of 6-1 for the season, and are on a five-game win streak.
CWC will enter the weekend with a 3-1 record on a three-game win streak. The Rustlers only loss came from No. 11 Utah State University Eastern Aug. 30. The Badgers hold a 5-1 record over the Rustlers with the last matchup being in 2021.
Jefferson College is 1-5 to begin the season. The Badgers have only faced the Vikings once and dropped the match 3-2 in five sets Sept. 16, 2023.Â
LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College women's volleyball team opened its season with a trio of victories at the Chapman Automotive Invitational hosted by Arizona Western College in Yuma, Arizona over the weekend. The Badgers collected victories against former conference foe College of Southern Nevada (3-1), Central Arizona College (3-1), and Yavapai College (3-1).
The Badgers opened up their season with a victory against CSN. They took a commanding two-set lead winning 25-17 and 25-20 before the Coyotes avoided the sweep, winning the third set 25-19. Snow College sealed the deal with a 25-10 victory in set four.Â
Following the win, the Badgers took on the host school AWC, which was ranked 20th in the NJCAA Division I Volleyball Preseason Poll. The Badgers split the first two sets dropping set one 25-18 before claiming the second set 25-19. They dropped the final two sets and suffered the loss.
The Badgers squared off against CAC the following day. Snow College narrowly dropped the first set 26-24 but rallied to win each of the next three. All three sets were close with each one being decided by four points or fewer. The Badgers won 25-23, 26-24, and 25-21 to claim the victory.
Snow College wrapped up the tournament against Yavapai and earned a convincing victory in four sets. The two teams split the first two sets before the Badgers won set three 25-14 and set four 25-20 to earn the win.
Cami Christiansen led the way offensively for the Badgers as she had 23 total kills. Liv Marshall added 22 kills over the four games. Kinley Kerbs handed out 47 assists across the four games played while Aspen Anderson anchored the Badgers' defense with 32 digs.
UP NEXT: The Badgers will head into their final non-conference invitational beginning Thursday Sept. 12 against Weatherford College starting at 7 p.m. They will continue play Friday Sept. 13 against Trinity Valley Community College at 11 a.m. and New Mexico Military Institute at 3 p.m. The Badgers will wrap up invitational play Saturday Sept. 14 against Seward County Community College.
