Seth Rigtrup of the Snow College football team has been named the NJCAA Division I Offensive Player of the Week, the Association announced Wednesday.
Â
Rigtrup receives the award following his strong performance in the Badgers' 55-38 victory against No. 15 Lackawanna College last Saturday in Ephraim. Rigtrup rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries – an average of more than 10 yards per rush.
Â
The 195 rushing yards are the most by a Badger since Seth Kaelin ran for 232 yards in a 69-18 victory against Ellsworth Community College May 1, 2021.
Â
Rigtrup's first of three rushing touchdowns came as he broke free in the Falcons' secondary and outraced all would-be tacklers for an 87-yard touchdown, which gave the Badgers a 34-17 lead at the time. It's the longest rush a Badger has recorded since Targhee Lambson had an 89-yard rush against McDougle Technical College Sept. 18, 2021.
Â
Rigtrup got loose a second time near the end of the fourth quarter and found the end zone on a 57-yard carry. His final touchdown came just a few moments later after the Snow College defense forced a strip sack and recovered the fumble at the Lackawanna 3-yard line.
Â
Rigtrup was called upon again and answered the call from three yards out to record his third rushing touchdown of the game.
Â
Rigtrup, a redshirt freshman from Springville, Utah, has rushed for a total of 523 yards this season, which is the fourth most rushing yards in the nation. He is tied for third overall in rushing touchdowns with seven, just one behind the leaders.
Â
Snow College will be idle this weekend and will prepare to face No. 2 Iowa Western Community College Saturday, Oct. 11, in Ephraim. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. inside Terry Foote Stadium. For video streaming and live stats information, visit snowbadgers.com.
