Volleyball Sweeps Regular Season Series Against No. 8 Eagles

The Snow College volleyball team picked up a decisive 3-0 victory over No. 8 Utah State University Eastern Saturday in Ephraim. This is the Badgers' first regular-season series sweep against the Eagles since the 2019 season.

The Badgers are coming off a weekend where they dropped both of their games against North Idaho College, 3-2, and No. 14 College of Southern Idaho, 3-1.

The Badgers started the first set right as they took each of the first four points. USUE was able to respond, which moved the set into a steady rhythm as both teams were tied at 15-15 by the midway point. Both teams kept trading runs until the Badgers were able to break away as they took the last three points, winning the first set 25-20.

The second set opened as the Badgers went on a three-point run to take an early lead. They would hold this momentum to a 17-10 lead by the midway point of the period and would cruise to a 25-16 win by the end of the set.

The final set started in the Eagles' favor as they were able to get out to a 5-2 lead before the Badgers rallied back to make it a 13-13 game. The Badgers would keep their foot on the gas, extending it to a 20-17 lead as they went on to win five of the next eight points to close out the set 25-20 and the game 3-0.

The Badgers recorded 10 total aces; they were led by Aleah McDaniel and Saidey Spencer with four each. McDaniel also led the Badgers in kills with 11. Madi Orth recorded 12 digs, with Avery Fowler right behind with 11.

The Badgers will head to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to take on NIC for the second time this season, Friday at 7:00 p.m. MDT. Snow College will then travel south to Twin Falls, Idaho, to take on No. 20 CSI Saturday at 1:00 p.m. MDT. For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
