Volleyball Upends No.7 USUE in Price

The Snow College volleyball team picked up an emphatic 3-1 win over No. 7 Utah State University Eastern Saturday. This is the Badgers' first win against USUE since Oct. 22, 2022, which resulted in a 3-2 Badger win.

The Badgers are coming off a split weekend to open up Scenic West Athletic Conference play, dropping a close match against Salt Lake Community College 3-2. They then headed to Colorado Northwestern Community College to take on the Spartans, where they handled business in a 3-0 fashion.

The Badgers opened the first set with force, marching to a 10-3 lead. The Eagles were able to claw it back to a 19-16 lead in Snow College's favor, but the Badgers were able to hold on, winning the first set 25-23.

The second set opened with USUE going up 8-4 early in the period before the Badgers rallied back to make it 13-13. Both teams then traded rallies, leaving the score at 21-21 until the Eagles won four of the final five points to earn the 25-22 win and even the match at 1 set apiece.

USUE opened the third set with a four-point run before Snow College could close the gap. The Badgers took an 18-17 lead midway through the period and were able to ride that momentum, outscoring USUE 7-4 to close out the third set 25-21.

The fourth set started with both teams scoring in short bursts, with the Eagles holding a slight lead of 9-6. The Badgers were able to blow the scoring open, going on a 10-1 run to take a 16-10 lead.

The Eagles were able to rally to tie the score at 16-16. Snow College then scored six straight points and maintained that momentum to close out the set 25-20, ultimately winning the match 3-1.

Cami Christiansen led the Badgers in kills and blocks with 10 and four, respectively. Ema Thompson recorded 16 assists while Avery Fowler led the way in digs with 20.

Snow College will host its first home games of the year Friday and take on North Idaho College at 6:00 p.m. The Badgers will then turn their attention to the No. 13 College of Southern Idaho, which will be in town the following day. The two teams will square off at 1:00 p.m. inside the Horne Activity Center

The Badgers won their last home matches against NIC and CSI, scoring 3-1 and 3-0 victories, respectively. For video streaming and live stats information, visit snowbadgers.com.
