Two members of the Snow College men's soccer team earned Scenic West Athletic Conference weekly awards, the Conference announced Tuesday.
JJ Cubillas earned the SWAC Player of the Week award while goalie
Mathias Christensen took home the SWAC Goalkeeper of the Week award.
Cubillas, a freshman from Riverton, played in his first two games as a Badger, scoring once in each game to help the Badgers take down Northwest College and No. 18 Western Nebraska Community College. Cubillas took six shots, four of them being on net, over the course of both games, where he played 49 minutes in each.
Against Northwest College, Cubillas scored the game-winner for the Badgers in the 89th minute of regulation off a ball poked away from Christensen to start a break. Issac Stanley led the break and fed a pass ahead to Cubillas, who split two defenders and deked the keeper, and found the back of the net. The Badgers were able to salt away the remaining minutes to secure the victory, 2-1.
Against WNCC, Cubillas scored the Badgers' third goal of the game in the 79th minute. He rebounded his own missed shot and was able to beat the keeper on a ball that found the left side of the net.
Christensen, a sophomore from Assentoft, Denmark, picked up two wins against Northwest College and WNCC, recording nine saves on 11 shots faced in a full 90 minutes in both contests. Christensen allowed just one goal in each game.
Last year, Christensen was third all-time for saves in a season at 55; he currently sits in fifth for career saves at 64. Christensen holds the career record for wins at 13 and is tied for wins in a single season at 11, which he set last season. He started 17 games for the Badgers in 2024 and earned Region 18 First-Team honors and NJCAA Second-Team All-Academic honors.
The Badgers will be traveling up to Taylorsville to take on Otero Junior College at a neutral site. The match is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. For video streaming and live stat information, visit
