Box Score 2 The No. 11 Snow College women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against North Idaho College Saturday in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Earlier in the week the Badgers were awarded a win Thursday over Pacific Northwest Christian College due to a forfeit.
In Saturday's matchup against NIC, the Badgers outshot the Cardinals 24-8 overall and 16-6 in shots on goal. While Snow College generated more opportunities, both teams were able to convert on key chances throughout the match.
Scoring opened in the final minute of the first half, when Maci Nell sent in a corner kick that Saige Meryhew finished to give Snow College a 1-0 lead at the break.
The Badgers maintained offensive pressure early in the second half, recording four shots by the 53rd minute. However, NIC responded in the 60th minute with the equalizer, shifting the momentum.
Snow College regained the lead in the 81st minute with a goal from Madi Thurgood. Just a few minutes later, in the 84th minute, the Badgers had a strong chance to extend their lead, but the Cardinals goalkeeper came up with a key save.
In the 87th minute, NIC capitalized on an opportunity and tied the match at 2-2. Snow College managed one final shot before the final whistle, but it didn't find the net.
The Badgers now hold an overall record of 5-2-1 and a conference record of 3-1-1. In the NJCAA rankings, Snow College is currently ranked 31st in total shots with 135.
The Badgers will face the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Idaho, Thursday and Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, Nevada Saturday. CSI holds an overall record of 3-2-1 and 2-2-1 in conference play, while TMCC stands at 0-2-0. For video streaming and live stats, visit snowbadgers.com
