Women's Soccer Set to Face CSI, TMCC

OPENING KICKOFF: The Snow College women's soccer team will be on the road for a pair of conference matchups this weekend. The Badgers will first face the College of Southern Idaho Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in Twin Falls, Idaho. Following that match, Snow College will travel to Reno, Nevada, Saturday to take on Truckee Meadows Community College, with kickoff scheduled for 12:00 p.m. MDT.

Entering the weekend, CSI carries a 3-2-1 overall record with a 2-2-1 mark in Scenic West Athletic Conference play, while TMCC stands at 0-2-0 in SWAC play.

The Badgers, currently ranked No. 11 in the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Rankings, are coming off a week that included a forfeit win over Pacific Northwest Christian College and a 2-2 draw against North Idaho College. Snow College now holds a 5-2-1 overall record, including a 3-1-1 mark in SWAC play.

KNOW YOUR FOE: Snow College first faced CSI in 2024, meeting twice that season. The Badgers won both contests in shutout fashion, 3-0 and 4-0. Across the two games, the Badgers totaled 26 shots on goal while holding the Golden Eagles to just six.

In recent conference play, The Golden Eagles fell 2-0 to Colorado Northwestern Community College Saturday. Previously CSI dropped a 1-0 result to NIC despite outshooting the Cardinals 16-6. Followed with a 1-1 draw against Salt Lake Community College where CSI recorded four shots and held the Bruins to nine.

Following Thursday's game against CSI, the Badgers will turn their attention to TMCC. The last meeting between the two sides, held in Reno, Nevada, ended in a 1-1 draw, while the previous contest in Ephraim saw Snow College dominate with an 8-0 victory. The Badgers carry a 3-1-2 record on the road, and overall 10-1-2 against TMCC. The Badgers only loss against TMCC came in 2023, a 2-0 setback.

TMCC enters Saturday's contest with mixed results in recent play. The Lizards fell to SLCC 4-0 and CNCC 9-1 before bouncing back with a 4-0 win over Pacific Northwest Christian College. Before meeting the Badgers, the Lizards will also face Utah State University Eastern Thursday.

LAST TIME OUT: The No. 11 Snow College women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against North Idaho College Saturday in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Earlier in the week the Badgers were awarded a win Thursday over Pacific Northwest Christian College due to a forfeit.

In Saturday's matchup against NIC, the Badgers outshot the Cardinals 24-8 overall and 16-6 in shots on goal. While Snow College generated more opportunities, both teams were able to convert on key chances throughout the match.

Scoring opened in the final minute of the first half, when Maci Nell sent in a corner kick that Saige Meryhew finished to give Snow College a 1-0 lead at the break.

The Badgers maintained offensive pressure early in the second half, recording four shots by the 53rd minute. However, NIC responded in the 60th minute with the equalizer, shifting the momentum.

Snow College regained the lead in the 81st minute with a goal from Madi Thurgood. Just a few minutes later, in the 84th minute, the Badgers had a strong chance to extend their lead, but the Cardinals goalkeeper came up with a key save.

In the 87th minute, NIC capitalized on an opportunity and tied the match at 2-2. Snow College managed one final shot before the final whistle, but it didn't find the net.

The Badgers now hold an overall record of 5-2-1 and a conference record of 3-1-1. In the NJCAA rankings, Snow College is currently ranked 31st in total shots with 135.

UP NEXT: Next week, the Badgers will return to action facing USUE, Saturday Oct. 4, in Price, Utah. Earlier this season, the Badgers earned a 1-0 win over the Eagles. The Eagles currently hold a 3-2-0 conference record. For video streaming and live stats, visit snowbadgers.com
