OPENING SERVE: The Snow College volleyball team will open Scenic West Athletic Conference play Friday against No. 6 Salt Lake Community College at 6:00 p.m. in Taylorsville. The Badgers will then travel to Rangley, Colorado, to take on Colorado Northwestern Community College at 1:00 p.m. the following day.
The Badgers are coming off the Canyon View Intermountain Invite, where they went 0-4 with losses against No. 10 Trinity Valley Community College 3-0 and No. 1 Miami Dade College 3-1.
KNOW YOUR FOE: SLCC is 13-3 on the year, with its losses coming to Butler Community College (3-2), No. 1 Florida Southwestern State College (3-1), and No. 6 Northeastern Junior College (3-2). They have notable wins over No. 1 MDC (3-2), No. 10 TVCC (3-0), and No. 15 Daytona State College (3-2).
The Badgers are 18-19 all-time against the Bruins, including a trio of wins last year. The Badgers defeated SLCC twice in the regular season, including a 3-0 win and a 3-1 win. They met a third time in the first round of the Region 18 Tournament, where the Badgers won 3-1. Snow College owns a 6-10 all-time record on the road against the Bruins.
The following day, the Badgers will take on CNCC. The Spartans hold a 3-13 record entering SWAC play, and are currently on an 11-game losing streak dating back to Sep. 5.
Snow College is 32-0 all-time against CNCC while dropping just three total sets against the Spartans since their first meeting in 2011. The Badgers are 15-0 on the road against the Spartans, with the last match ending 3-0; the sets fell in favor of the Badgers 25-16, 25-9, and 25-13.
LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers opened up the invite against No. 10 Trinity Valley Community College, where they suffered a sweep at the hands of the Cardinals. The Badgers lost the first set 25-14, then made the second and third sets close but couldn't close them out, losing 25-23 and 25-21.
Snow College ended the first day in a rematch against EWC. The Badgers lost the first two sets 25-21 and 25-14 before coming back and winning the third set 25-19. Ultimately, the Badgers weren't able to keep the momentum and lost a close fourth set 25-22, falling to the Lancers 3-1.
The Badgers opened up day two against Missouri State University-West Plains, where they suffered their second sweep of the invite. They lost the first two sets, both by a score of 25-19, and lost the final set by a score of 25-20.
The Badgers closed out the event against No. 1 Miami Dade College, which dropped its first game of the year against Salt Lake Community College 3-2. The Badgers started strong against the Sharks, taking the first set 25-18, but began to fall behind, losing a close second set 25-22. They then lost the third set 25-14 and the final set 25-21, falling to MDC 3-1.
Cloee Leslie led Snow College with 24 kills, with
Aleah McDaniel close behind with 18 kills of her own. Ema Tompson led the Badgers with assists with 106 over the four games played.
Avery Fowler led the Badgers in digs with 41.
UP NEXT: The Badgers will play one game next week in Price, where they will take on No. 7 Utah State University Eastern Oct. 4 at 1:00 p.m. The Eagles were last year's Region 18 Champions, where they beat the Badgers 3-2.
