Volleyball Heads to Starr Corporation Invitational

OPENING SERVE: The Snow College volleyball team will head to Twin Falls, Idaho, for the Starr Corporation Invitational this Friday and Saturday. The Badgers will take on three opponents during the two-day event.

The Badgers will open Friday against Eastern Wyoming College at 1:00 p.m. They will then turn around and play Central Wyoming College at 7:00 p.m. to end the first day. Snow College will only have one opponent on day two, setting up a rematch against No. 15 Northeastern Junior College at 1:00 p.m.

The Badgers are coming off a successful weekend at the Laramie County Community College Invitational, where the Badgers went 4-0, bringing them to an overall 4-4 record.

KNOW YOUR FOE: Snow College will open against EWC. The Lancers are 4-7 on the year and are coming off a 1-3 showing at the Kruse Kickoff Classic in Brenham, Texas. The Badgers and the Lancers have met once before in 2018, where the Badgers took the meeting 3-0. This is the first of two meetings these teams will have this year.

The Badgers will take on CWC to close out day one. The Rustlers have started the 2025 season with a 2-6 record. The Badgers are 6-1 all-time against the Rustlers, with their last meeting coming a year ago in this same invitational. Snow College won that meeting 3-0.

The only opponent the Badgers have on Saturday will be a rematch against No. 15 NJC. The Plainswomen are 5-3 on the year, going 3-1 in their last outing at the LCCC Invitational. The only match they dropped was a 3-0 loss to the Badgers. Snow College is 9-2 all-time in meetings with NJC, including two meetings at the NJCAA National Tournament.

LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers emphatically bounced back at the Laramie County Community College Invitational, taking all four games over the two-day event. Snow College beat Central Arizona College 3-0, Ranger College 3-0, No. 6 Northeastern Junior College 3-0, and LCCC 3-1.

The Badgers opened up the invitational, sweeping CAC 3-0. They took the first set 25-17 in a steady fashion. Snow College followed it up with a 25-19 win and a 25-18 win to close out the game.

Snow College continued the first day, taking on Ranger. The Rangers and Badgers had a close first set, with the Badgers eking it out 25-21. In the following sets, the Badgers were able to set the pace, winning 25-11 and 25-17, to record their second sweep of the day.

To start day two, Snow College took on No. 6 NJC. Early in the first set, both sides were trading rallies until the Badgers were able to go on a 5-1 run to close out the first set 25-18. The Badgers were able to settle in against the Plainswomen, taking the second set by the same score of 25-18 and the final set 25-17.

Snow College faced the host LCCC to finish out the invitational. A close first set fell in favor of the Golden Eagles, 25-20. The first set would be the only one the Badgers would lose throughout the match. Snow College was able to recover and take the second set 25-19. The Badgers didn't look back after that, winning the third set 25-17 and the fourth set 25-14.

Over the course of the weekend, the Badgers were led in kills by Cami Christiansen and Aleah McDaniel with 36 and 35, respectively. Ema Thompson recorded 124 assists across all four games. Avery Fowler led the Badgers defensively, notching 54 digs over the course of the weekend.

UP NEXT: The Badgers will head to Taylorsville for the Canyon View Intermountain Invite to play their last non-conference matches Sept. 12th and 13th. They will open up the Invitational against No. 9 Trinity Valley Community College at 9:00 a.m. They will then turn around and have a rematch against EWC at 3:00 p.m. Opening up the second day, the Badgers will be taking on Missouri State University-West Plains at 9:00 a.m., and to close out the invitational, Snow College will play No. 1 Miami Dade College at 2:00 p.m. For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
