KICKOFF: The Snow College women's soccer team hosts North Idaho College Thursday at 1 p.m., before hosting Pacific Northwest Christian College Saturday at 11 a.m. Both matches will be played at the Snow College Soccer Complex in Ephraim.
The Badgers are riding a four-game winning streak and recently improved to 6-0-2 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play and 6-2-2 overall after earning a 5-0 victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College. Snow College scored three goals in the first half before adding two more after halftime.
KNOW YOUR FOE: NIC enters the matchup with a 7-3-3 overall record and a 4-2-2 mark in SWAC play. The Cardinals are coming off an 11-0 victory over the Gladiators, a 3-0 loss to Salt Lake Community College and a 0-0 draw against Utah State University Eastern.
The last time Snow College and NIC met, the teams played to a 0-0 draw. The Badgers created several scoring opportunities, recording 20 shots, including seven on goal, while the Cardinals recorded eight shots, including four on goal.
In the Region 18 SWAC standings, NIC currently sits in fourth place, while Snow College is in second and Salt Lake Community College leads the conference.
PNWCC enters the matchup with a 0-12 record. The Gladiators are coming off an 11-0 loss to NIC.
The last time the teams met, Snow College earned a 14-0 victory, improving the Badgers' all-time record against the Gladiators to 7-0. Snow College scored nine goals in the first half, including goals from Adelle Grimley, Lydia Neville, Hallie Hansen, Madelyn Jakobson, Brenna Arauzo, Jaden Hlebasko, Julie Huddleston, Caliyah Wagner and Summer Long.
The Badgers added five more goals in the second half, including two from Jolee Irvin and a hat trick from Jakobson. Jakobson finished the match with three goals, while Monson recorded two assists.
LAST TIME OUT: Saturday's victory marked Snow College's second win over the Spartans this season and extended the Badgers' all-time record against CNCC to 21-0. Snow College recorded 35 shots, including 15 on goal, while the Spartans tallied three shots, two of which were on goal.
The Badgers opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Caliyah Wagner sent a cross to Arie Bunce, who found the back of the net. Kelsie Peterson appeared to extend the lead in the 31st minute, but the goal was nullified due to an offsides call.
Snow College extended its lead in the 37th minute when Jolee Irvin found the back of the net off an assist from Emma Glenn. Three minutes later, Glenn scored off an assist from Irvin to give the Badgers a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Snow College continued to create scoring opportunities in the second half. Julie Huddleston found the back of the net in the 48th minute. Hallie Schmidt struck the crossbar in the 56th minute before Peterson scored in the 68th minute off an assist from Anna Monson to secure the 5-0 victory.
